Donna Surprenant Obituary

COMBERMERE, Ontario, Canada — Donna Jeanne Surprenant, 55, a staff member of Madonna House Apostolate, died Friday, Feb. 6, 2009, at St. Mary's, Madonna House, in Combermere, with her father and members of her community at her side.

She was born July 21, 1953, in Haverhill, Mass., the daughter of Donald Surprenant of Hampton and the late Jeanne (Cartier) Surprenant.

She attended Queen's University in New York after obtaining a bachelor of fine arts degree at the University of New Hampshire.

She worked in the printing and graphic arts department at Harvard University and in the Frick Art Reference Library in New York.

In addition to her father, she is survived by one brother, Jeff Andrews of Portland, Maine; her stepmother, Claire; aunts and uncles, Paul and Claire Surprenant and Ed and Joan Surprenant, all of Hampton, John and Laura Cartier of Bradford, Mass., Claire (Cartier) Scamardi of Sarasota, Fla.; many cousins; and the members of the Madonna House Apostolate.

Her funeral was held Tuesday, Feb. 10, at St. Mary's, Madonna House, Combermere.

Memorial donations may be made to Madonna House Apostolate, 2888 Dafoe Road, Combermere, Ontario, Canada K0J1L0.
