Mary O'Neill Obituary

Mary Claire (O'Brien) O'Neill

Mary passed away on November 1,

2018, with her family by her side. Born March 2, 1937.

Mary was born and raised in Seattle, where she attended Blessed Sacrament Grade School and Holy Names High School. She then attended Seattle University where she met the love of her life, Tom O'Neill.

After graduation they married and started a wonderful life together, raising a family and celebrating a 51st anniversary just before Tom passed in 2010.

Mary Claire began her career as an elementary school teacher, moved to full time Mom and then a Lecturer for the Weight Watchers Corporation for over 20 years.

She enjoyed being with people, especially long term college friends. Mary Claire loved to travel, especially to the sun with her beach / pool partner Tom. She was an enthusiastic fan at all of her sons' sporting events and was a joint Seahawk season ticket holder with Tom for over 30 years. Mary Claire was an active member of St. Luke Parish where she was a Eucharistic Minister.

She was a Shoreline resident her entire adult life, inclusive of an enjoyable last two years at Crista with new friends and a caring staff.

Mary Claire was a very loving mother and proud grandmother.

She is survived by her sons, Michael (Kari), Daniel (Cindy), Edward (Gina); and her grandchildren, Conor, Brigitte, Elle, William, Maddie, Caroline and Max.

My first and favorite memory of Mary is when I was attending WW with a not-so-entertaining leader. One Tuesday the lady was absent and in walked Mary as the substitute leader! I was excited to have a new leader, if only for one time. Mary was delightful and had 2 pieces if great advice! One was, if you ever get desperate, there is always a subway store near by and the 2nd (life advice) was... you cannot control what life brings but you can control how you react to it! Thank you Mary!!

I am a Weight Watchers employee and am proud to say that my time at the company overlapped with Mary Claire's. She was such a class act and I was honored to have known her. I was a mother of young children when we first met, and admired the fact that her children and grandchildren were her top priority. For years after her retirement, members still remembered and asked about her and I know that she will be greatly missed.
