Ann and I had not been in touch for a few years and I was shocked and saddened to learn of her death by reading a notice in the Washington State Bar News.
Ann was an amazing person. We worked together at the Washington AGO where she was a colleague, mentor, and good friend. I remember traveling with her to a legal conference in San Antonio in 1995. We had only recently met but we spent the whole time joking with each other, laughing, and finding that we had many things in common. I knew that I would always be Ann's friend and she mine. We worked together for about five years then went our separate ways professionally. We kept in touch here and there but, regardless of how long it had been since we talked, we always picked up right where we left off and I always knew that we were friends across time and distance. The last time she tried to call me, unfortunately, I missed the call and was so busy and distracted by my own life, I failed to call her back. Something I will forever regret.
I am so happy to have known Ann and so sad that she is no longer with us. I know, however, that she will always be my friend across time and distance and, now, dimensions.

I am so sad about Ann's death. I knew her when she was a law student. She helped me through a very difficult time even though she herself was facing health challenges. In my heart she will always be a 25 year old gentle woman whom I am grateful to have known. -- Eva Wescott Mitchell
