Bruce Jenkinson Obituary
Bruce R. Jenkinson passed away on December 29, 2012, following a long illness. Born in San Rafael, California on March 28, 1951, to Frank and Helen Jenkinson, he is survived by his loving daughters Hillary (Andrew) Greene, Ashley Jenkinson, and Sophia Jenkinson and son Lucas Jenkinson.
He graduated from Humboldt State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Botany, and received his Master's Degree in Biology from the University of Washington.
He combined his interests in fisheries, travel, and Russian language throughout his career. He worked on Soviet fishing vessels for the National Marine Fisheries Service, travelled to Antarctica, the Amazon and Mongolia with Society Expeditions, lived in the Soviet Far East while working for Marine Resources Company and in the Sultanate of Oman while working for the U.S. Agency for International Development.
Bruce was an avid runner and mountaineer in his younger days, working as a seasonal ranger with the National Park Service at Mount Rainier and Rocky Mountain National Parks. He also loved football, traveling, boating, and crabbing in the Sound. Bruce was a fascinating individual and will be missed by all who knew him.

Bruce had many reserved talents and was amazingly interesting person. Hoped he will write another book or books. Will miss him a lot.

Bruce was a brother soul. We worked and traveled together in Alaska and Russia. I remain fascinated by his many adventures,including an exploratory start-up business in the Andeman Islands in the northeastern Indian Ocean. Bruce accomplished a lot in his too short life and will be truley missed.

I worked with Bruce for one summer at Carbon River before he moved to RMNP and I moved to Paradise. He was a tremendous co-worker. Among many things, one that sticks out to me was the sight of him having collected a road kill raccoon and teaching himself how to tan the hide and fabricate an authentic coon skin hat, complete with head and tail on the hat. My sympathies to his family members.
