Dorothy Hammett Obituary

Dorothy P. HAMMETT Age 93, of Seattle, passed away November 12, 2002. She was born on July 9, 1909 in Richland, WA. to Mr. And Mrs. John A. Penn. Graduated from Auburn High School in 1927, and Washington State College (University) in 1931. After graduation she taught at the old Edmonds High School. On June 9, 1935 Dorothy and Kellie C. Hammett were married. After her children were raised she earned a master's degree in education from the University of Washington then taught in the Seattle school system for 16 years. Past member of the Jefferson Park Lawn Bowling Club and the Humdingers Song and Dance Group. In 1993 her beloved husband, Kellie, preceded her in death. Survived by sons Kellie P. (Linda) of Edmonds, WA.; Richard (Olga) of Shoreline, WA.; granddaughters Lori Moloney (John) of Spokane, WA.; Teri Wheeler (Terry) of Portland, OR.; step-grandchildren Deborah (Greg) of Auburn, WA.; Gregory (Cathie) of Lynnwood, WA.; four great-grandchildren plus numerous nieces and nephews. Her greatest treasure in life was her faith in God. Now, her desire to one day be in His presence and reunite with Kellie has been fulfilled. A celebration of her life will be held with a gathering of the family. If desired, remembrances may be made in Dorothy's name to The Salvation Army or Medic One.
