Heidi and her husband Franz saved my life twice, when I was stricken with pneumonia as a child. They came to our home in the Maple Leaf neighborhood in Seattle, to attend to my critical situation. I remain grateful for their loving medical care throughout my childhood.

Heidi Kirschner was among the ‘best of the very best'… as a physician. Her approach to caring for her patients went well beyond anything we see today.
I met her the first time in the spring of 1962 when I was pregnant with our first child. From the beginning, both she and Dr. Franz were a very important part of our lives… as we raised three children. In time, four generations of our family found them to be very wise as counselors and compassionate caregivers.
Between them, they delivered all three of our children; with Dr. Franz leaving his daughter's wedding to deliver our daughter.
Later, Dr. Heidi purchased Barbie doll clothes from Fredrick & Nelsons and went to our 9 year old daughter in Children's Hospital… to play with her, following a hip surgery requiring a full body cast. . Dr. Heidi went even further… when she placed our daughter on a ‘banana cart' and wheeled her to the cafeteria to order an ice cream sundae. That demonstration of caring set a strong example in our household.
Dr. Heidi helped with the final stages of life for our grandmother. We always were comfortable knowing we could seek their guidance in many of life's most difficult moments. When they retired, we felt a deep loss in our lives. Occasionally, we would see Dr. Heidi in Wedgwood and had the opportunity once to take her to dinner and share some time with her.
Surely you know what treasurers Dr. Heidi and Franz were… and you have reassuring memories that will give you comfort as you mourn her loss.

I have fond memories of Heidi and Franz from the early 1940's. At that time Dr. Franz made 'house calls' and he came to our house when I (age 11 or 12) was very sick with a really bad cough and high
fever. He was our 'family doc.' until the 1970's and helped our family through
the final days of both my parents. In
later days Heidi was often in the office
when I brought my parents to see the Dr.
After her retirement I had many wonderful days playing chamber music with her. She was a good violinist and violist, and in later days Franz learned to play the cello. In the early 1990's when I got a new grandson, I would bring him to Heidi's house in his basket-car seat and put him under the piano while we played string quartets.
Heidi was a wonderfully, warm person and
I always felt so comfortable with her, as a Dr. and as a musician. I enjoyed her company in both areas.

I remember Dr. Heidi with great fondness as she and Dr. Franz treated me for rheumatic fever in 1951. They subsequently were my loving physicians for the next 10 years. My sympathy, thoughts and prayers are with you all.
