Kent Schliiter Obituary

Kent Scott SCHLIITER Kent Scott Schliiter was born July 22, 1968 in Edmonds, WA, and died November 7, 2011 in Seattle, WA, following a two year illness. Kent lived and worked most of his life in the Seattle area. He graduated in 1986 from Interlake High School where he was a cheerleader, played drums in the pep band and was on the wrestling team. Following high school, Kent studied computer science at the University of Washington while working in technical support at University Hospital. He then lived and worked in the Boston and Minneapolis areas before enjoying extensive travels to Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Asia. After returning to Seattle, Kent earned a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering in 1998 from the University of Washington. He worked for several years as a software engineer at Microsoft and then co-owned an urgent care medical clinic. Kent enjoyed and participated in many activities, including long distance bicycling, piloting small airplanes, going to movies, video games, photography, playing the drums, and walking his beloved dogs, Odin and Freya. He loved traveling to new places, red 3 series BMW convertibles, Chinese food, 1980's era pop music and he was a great cook! Most of all, Kent loved being the father of Ripley and Sydney, whom he adored and to whom he was singularly devoted. Kent worked tirelessly to give his girls the knowledge and skills they would need later in life to achieve their goals. Kent was a brilliant, curious, intuitive, complex and intensely private man with a kind and gentle soul. He had a strong sense of self and accomplished each goal he set for himself with great skill, creativity and determination. Kent is survived by wife Jena, daughters Ripley and Sydney, mother Linda, father Bill, step-mother Gloria, sister Lisa, brother Todd, sister-in-law Michelle, aunts Sandy and Sue, uncles Steve and Bill, nephews Henry and Tristan, great aunt Barbara, and great uncles Bob and Tony. Kent will be interred at Evergreen Washelli Cemetery in Seattle, WA, following a private memorial service. Safe travels sweet boy. We will miss you and love you forever.

Dr. Schliiter, I am so sorry for your loss, I know things like this can be so painful and devistating, I hope you and the girls are doing well, I am saddened that you have given up on your practice, you were a great doctor and we all loved you, since you have been gone it has been hard to find a doctor of your caliber, knowledge and compasion, things have gotten much worse and hopefully I will join your husband soon, I just want you to know that you helped me so much and you were more like a friend than a doctor, you truely cared about your patients and I hope the best for you and your family as you find your way after this tragedy. Thank you for all your help after my accident. God bless you and your girls

Kent Schliiter was a true friend and fellow globe trekker. He and his wife Jena and Ripley & Sydney are some of the most special people in our lives. His love for his beautiful wife and precious daughters knew no bounds and I doubt that I ever met a more doting father or caring husband. His zest for life and his infectious smile were contagious to anyone who took the time to take note. He will forever occupy our memories and our thoughts. We extend our prayers and most sincere condolences to Jena, Ripley and Sydney and the rest of the Schliiter family. Scooter & Cathy Hudgens (Lebanon, OR)

Let me first say this is very sad. I am happy he is in a better place now because his heart was hurting very much. Jena is my doctor and an amazing one at that. She has lost her partner and the love of her life. She is one of the greatest human beings I have ever known. She has taken great care of me for more than 6 years and last week (when I found out) I was crushed. I cried knowing that in the past 18 months she has lost her mentor (also my grandfathers doctor) and her best friend. Jena I love you and care about you dearly. I hope you come back soon but I understand if you don't. If you ever need -ANYTHING- please don't hesitate to get a hold of me.
