Marielle Scott Obituary

Marielle Haley Scott

Marielle Haley Scott, beloved daughter of Jamie and Maya Scott, died January 17, 2013 surrounded by her parents and grandparents. Mari came into this world on a cold clear day in Oakland CA on December 7, 2009. She was beautiful and perfect and had a spirit that drew people to her from day one! Mari was diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy at six months. Mari loved sunsets, which she referred to as "hallelujah skies". She loved books, bunnies, tea parties, Cinderella, and her service dog "Kudo". Her dreams were to be a ballerina and to ride a yellow skateboard someday. We picture her in heaven zooming down the streets wearing a tutu and riding a skateboard. Mari leaves many who mourn her passing: grand-parents David and Mary Ellen Haley and James and Marilyn Scott, great grand-parents Gene and Clarice Slade, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends throughout the world!

A celebration of Mari's life will be held on February 2nd, 11:00 at St Therese Church, 3416 E. Marion St, Seattle WA 98122. Wear bright colors and of course children are welcome! Remembrances may be made to "Stepping Stones", Providence Hospice of Seattle, 425 Pontius Ave N, Suite 300, Seattle WA 98109.

Mari was known best to me through mary ellen's postings on FB. I followed mari to the mt baker preschool, to face painting, to oakland and the emergency return to seattle. and i rejoiced, along with all others who knew mari, when a doctor opined that mari might have a form of SMA which allowed a greater future.

how crushing that mari's love-filled life ended too soon. i can imagine too the unreality of a different life for maya and james. her loss cuts so deep amd will hurt for a long long time even afterr you, maya and james, find yourself laughing again in four years. and everyone, absolutely everyone, who knows Mari and her parents and her grandparents and those in her large circle of people who loved her, all of us feel, in the faintest of ways in comparison, your great sorrow.

maya and james, my wish for you right now and forever is that mari comes to you in your dreams, alive and twinkling. peace.

To Maya, my Little Sister and Jamie, my Brother in Law, you two are the strongest parents I have ever known. I am so happy that I was able to meet my little niece before she left this earth. I feel so sad that I lived so far away that I was not able to be in her life more often. She will always be the most beautiful Little Angel sent down and now back to heaven. I love you two! Rest in Peace my Little Angel Marielle Haley Scott ~ Uncle, Matt the Fireman

To the Haley and Scott families, Words cannot begin to express my sorrow, and deepest sympathies to you all, with the loss of Mari. She was truly an angel, sent here for a short period of time , to inspire all who met her. I ask the Lord, to hold all of you very close, as you try to deal with this great loss of such a wonderful little girl. May the Lord Bless you, and Keep you in His Love and Care. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

I met Mari just once but her sweet spirit and beautiful smile added so much light to the day! As Stephanie Watanabe's mom I kept up on Mari. I was blessed to hear of the love and fun she brought to this world, especially her wonderful parents! she was smart beyond her years!!! amazing! I know she will be missed but I also know without any doubt, she is riding that skateboard and wearing a full ballerina outfit, dancing with God's angels and surrounded by all who love her there....And she is waiting for the time when everyone she left behind joins her in heaven!!! Life is eternal, thank you God!!!

Such a sweet, beautiful little girl. To the day, the sight of a ladybug (on a t-shirt, on the ground, etc...) w/o question results in my daughter stating w/conviction that "Mari is a Ladybug."
