Marvin Bruce Obituary

Marvin L. Bruce

Marvin passed away peacefully at home 2/2/2015 with family at his side. He is fondly remembered for the gentle love and kindness that he showed every day and his remarkable resilience as he battled many health issues throughout the years. Born in Pe Ell, Washington in 1924, he grew up in Seattle on Capitol Hill. After serving in the Navy, he married Veronica (Ronnie) Davis and together they raised 7 children. Marvin was a devoted father working two jobs to make ends meet, 35 years at the Washington Athletic Club as Beverage Controller, and 25 years with the State Liquor Board. He enjoyed gardening, classical music, and traveling with Ronnie. Marvin was a foodie at heart spending his time reading food magazines and cookbooks, grocery shopping, and picking out menus for the next family gathering. He is survived by his children Laurie, Robert, Richard, David and Michael, 6 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Anna, wife Veronica, and daughters Lynn and Margaret. Remembrances may be made to the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, and The Leukemia Society. Please sign Marvin's online Guestbook at www.Legacy.com.

What a legacy, what a classy fellow. Never so much as raised his voice when Richard and I stumbled in from Bellingham for the yearly golf "Fowl Weather Golf Tourney." Now where are all of those merry fellows going to bunk and have a wonderful breakfast and awesome cup of joe? You exemplified a subtle classy style that we as men will try to present to those behind, thank you so much for just being the"Marv." We toast in your absence, and are remissed by your leaving this world, god speed my good fellow, thanks for your friendship...

Mr. Bruce was my best friends dad, although I only saw him on occasion he always impressed me with his genuine caring and warmth. He would go out of his way to make me feel welcome. His love for his family and by this the love his family has for each other is a legacy in itself. Kim M Halverson
