I just this day have learned this news and yes indeed, of all the building administrators I had worked with throughout my years in education Mike exemplified an honest and sincere interest in children and youth and I know those kids really appreciated Mike's presence in so many ways. I know I did.

Mike made a special arrangement to have me teach math (advanced calculus) at Interlake High School in the morning before I continued in to work at Microsoft (for two years, 1991-3). He was very supportive. In fond remembrance, I offer my condolences.

I am so sorry to just now learn of Mike's passing. I was a counselor at Interlake High for two years in the early 1990's and he was the best principal I ever worked with. He was kind, funny, open minded and had a clear vision for the school. I grew so much professionally and personaly under his leadership. My family is flying to Seattle next week and we will all be praying for your family. I am blessed to have known Michael Bacigalupi.

I'm so sorry to hear of Mr. Bacigalupi's passing. I was a student at Newport High School and he was my American Literature teacher in 1981 during my junior year. I really enjoyed him as a teacher because he was engaging and inspired us to ask more questions and to delve into the stories and retrieve the heart of the underlying messages. He seemed to love his calling. He helped me and many others appreciate american literature especially during a time in our young lives when distractions were everywhere. I'm thankful to have known him and pray he's at peace and his family is comforted.

I was the school psychologist at Interlake High School from the mid-'80s to the early 90's and thus had the privilege of working with Mike when he was assistant principal there (along with Don Barnhart the principal, Sarah Phillips-assistant principal, Jane Akita-nurse, counselors Joe Underwood and Theresa Przkota, Marianne Bergstrom the Interlake Center supervisor, and many many other dedicated educators). Mike had such a wonderful spirit of fun, along with his commitment to do his very best for students. He had a wonderful no-nonsense ready wit that skewered human foibles and bureaucratic insanity alike! Yet he was always supportive and never mean-spirited. His early passing is a real loss to education, to young people, and of course to his family. I was not able to get to the memorial service because of other commitments, so this message will have to suffice to convey my sympathy to his family and to all the many, many young people whose lives he changed for the better.

I had the pleasure of working with Mike as a fellow prinicpal for 14 years and was always impressed by his commitment to kids, his professionalism and his leadership abilities. I am so sorry for your loss.
