Tribute to Randi
Mother and Friend – Wife and Partner
With All My Love, Frank

Randi Rus will always be the Love of my life… our marriage and love are forever.

Randi’s greatest treasure was being the Mother of her “Sweet Pea,” our son “Charlie” (Frank C Rus III).

Randi Isabelle Carey was born on July 13, 1951 in Seattle, WA to Bruce and June Carey. Randi loves her family, especially her Mom, June. She missed her Dad, Bruce, since his passing 20 years ago. Randi loves her younger sister, Leslie very much. A favorite trip was her visit to Leslie’s home. Her cousins and their children were very special to her. She looked forward to her family events and parties… especially the Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners. Randi loves her new family through our marriage. “In-law” is never used in our family. Randi was a new daughter, sister, niece and cousin. She gained another family, who loves her as one of their own. As the family grew, Randi gained more brothers, nieces and nephews. She cherished the family visits to our home. And, Randi loves her friends. Old and new, her friends are friends for life.

Randi’s life changed when we met through one of God’s miracles… Love at first sight! Five months later, God blessed us again with our marriage on February 11, 1984 in Spokane, WA. There we lived in our first home. Then moved to South Holland, IL in Nov ’86, where Randi gave birth to her “Pride and Joy” Charlie on January 20, 1988. In Nov ’89, we moved to Seattle. Randi loved Seattle. She returned to school and graduated from the Court Reporting Institute, where she later taught. In 2004, we moved to Bainbridge Island. Randi enjoyed her garden and flowers at our home on the island. During the time on Bainbridge, Randi was happy living close to her Mom. She remembered all the years of fun at the Sand Spit with family and lifelong friends. Then in July 2007, Randi moved once more, to our present home in Everson, WA. Randi found the home and countryside she loved so much for the past 23 months. I remember when Randi met me at work after she had seen our future home for the first time. She simply said, “I want that house.” She fell in love with the hills, mountains and the surroundings she saw each day. She loved her country life in Everson, complete with dogs, goats and chickens.

Randi suffered from Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD). Through years of discomfort and pain, Randi never complained about her disease. She looked forward to a better life through surgery and a future kidney transplant. Unfortunately, she could not fully recover from her May 15th Kidney – Liver surgery; and, on May 26th God called Randi to a whole and perfect life in His Heavenly Kingdom. Randi was baptized a Catholic on the evening of May 25th, the night before she was called Home by God. Randi passed away in the UW Medical Center ICU. Even in her sickness and passing, she touched the lives of many relatives, friends and hospital staff, especially her Doctors, special “Angles without Wings” (her nurses) and a very special “Angel with Wings” working in the ICU. We thank you for caring for Randi with such dignified professionalism, respect and compassion. You touched our lives as we heard she touched some of yours.

Randi believed that everything happened for a reason. For example, because of her disease, Randi and I spent 3 hours a day, 5 days a week together while we performed her hemo-dialysis at home for the past 13 months. We enjoyed spending that time together.

Randi’s final wish was to be cremated and return to our home with her family and eventually be buried in a family plot in the Everson area. Her wish will come true.

Now, in her perfect life, Randi continues to influence us from her Home in Heaven. Our thoughts are of Randi. She remains the foundation of our family. Randi is Mother and Best Friend to Charlie, her “Sweet Pea” and only Son. Randi Rus is God’s Miracle to me. I am so blessed to be Randi’s husband and partner in this life for over 25 years. Her spirit will always be in me. And, I know my eternal Gift from God is to join Randi in our perfect life in God’s Heavenly Kingdom.

Randi, I fell in love with you the moment I first saw you and that love has grown with each passing moment. You are and will always be the Love of my Life. I look forward to an eternal and perfect life with you in God’s Heavenly Kingdom.

My deepest sympathy to the family of Randi. I knew her in high school at Lincoln. She was so quiet and so sweet. I'm so very sorry for your loss.
