Travis Leva Obituary

Travis Armstrong Leva

1979 ~ 2012

Travis passed away unexpectedly in Cambodia while doing one of the things that he loved most, traveling to foreign places to forge new adventures. At 33, Travis was taken from this world far, far too soon; however, his spirit will undoubtedly live on forever. Travis is survived by his father William and his older sister Shannon and will remain beloved in the memories of countless friends, near and far. As a precocious kid, Travis grew up in Woodinville, WA and spent time living in Kentucky, ultimately graduating from Interlake High School in Bellevue, WA. As an adult, Travis lived in Seattle, WA where he was a fixture in the local music scene, working security at shows, tending bar at clubs throughout the city and supporting local punk rock bands on national tours. He lived punk rock. It was in his soul through his passion for the music, his identification with the culture and through his approach to life; living it to the fullest, and as he would be the first to admit, sometimes to the extreme. Travis was many things to many, many people; a son, a brother, a friend, a love of one's life, a co-worker, a gentle 6'8" giant, a source of constant comedy relief, a world traveler, an intellectual, a foodie, a geek, someone who gave the absolute best hugs, and on and on. Travis touched so many lives through his ability to connect on a personal level with people from all walks of life and bringing people together in a truly genuine way. He cared deeply about those around him and was happiest when surrounded by his friends and family. He was a positive force and was always there to lift the spirits of others. Travis will be missed immensely but he will always be remembered.

Trav, you were always right! Remember the Scrabble Game when I insisted Jessica Simpson won an Oscar for her role as Daisy Duke? You were the first to deny me as your sister! I loved to tease you as I loved you! You will always be my favorite comedian! Shannon

Trav,

Over a week has passed since you left us. I know I will not see you ever again here on Earth but your spirit is with us always. Tell Mom that you and I both no longer must give me lectures. I love you, Honey. Thank you for being my baby brother. I will miss you forever. Shannon

Travis was a great cousin and nephew to our family. We remember the times we shared together as a family and know that he was loved by so many and it was our great pleasure to have shared our lives with him for the short time he was among us. Uncle Wil

I remember Travis as the tow-headed 10- or 11-year-old younger brother of Shannon. He was sort of a 4-H club mascot and was often drug along to 4-H Horsebowl (quizbowl) contests to complete a team of four. We were always entertained by Travis' creative and amusing answers to the questions! It sounds as though he carried this fun-loving persona into adulthood. Our hearts go out to Shannon - I know how much you'll miss him.

Travis Leva, one of the friendliest and funnest people I have ever met. We were lucky enough to travel with him on The Business/Hollowpoints tour, he once created merchandise with a wife beater and a sharpie and got an instant sale, he also had a talent for finding the finest sherry in Kentucky. Last time I saw Travis, we played a card game for $1 bills until the early hours, I bankrupt myself at least 3 or 4 times, every time Travis would spot me just to keep the game going and keep having fun.

A big guy with an even bigger heart, on behalf of myself and The Business, we will miss him and Seattle will never be the same again, all our love and condolences to his family, friends and anyone who was lucky enough to meet him.

The campfire light that flickers in the night shooting sparks into the air was the sound of your laughter. The brook that flows into the sea was your spirit that touched so many. The universe is a bit smaller in the loss of your soul. May the unknown accept you and cherish you as we did. love always auntie Lynne

Travis - Saddened to hear this news. Although i have not seen you in so many years. We were close in Jr High and had a lot of classes together. I remember you had the energy and spirit of 1000 people, and could always make me laugh. Although its been many years since then i have not forgotten you, and never will. All my love to your family and friends

You seemed to be such a bright and vivacious guy who should have had more time on this earth to explore it. Our family shares our condolences to yours. There was something really special while reading this article today that reminded us of how quickly life can be taken away. I hope you know that you were loved.

Trav,

I will never forget you! You meant the world to me even through the worst of times. You will be that star that shines in the night, letting everyone know that there is someone looking over them and that it is important to follow your dreams. I love you more than words can say and I am so very sad. I will go on though, as you would want that. I am also becoming a chef. My dr. said you would like that. Your sister and number one fan.
