Gary J. Leva

Gary J. Leva, 74, a beacon of joy, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on September 16, 2024, at his home in Carmel, NY. Born on September 22, 1949, in Queens, NY, Gary's life was a testament to the love and laughter he shared with those around him.
Gary's early life in Queens laid the foundation for a man who deeply valued family and community. He was the son of the late Joseph and Fanny (Jimmie) Leva and the brother of the late Ronald Leva.
Professionally, Gary brought creativity and passion to his work as a Visual Merchandiser for Point of Purchase Displays in Mamaroneck, NY. His work was not just a job but also a canvas for his artistic expression.
Gary is survived by his beloved wife, Dorothy (Deptula) Leva, whom he married on August 16, 2007, in Atlantic City, New Jersey. He is also survived by his son, Steven Leva; his extended family, Dawn (Joe) Peters, Marie (Brent) Hughes, and Toni Stiller; and his cherished grandchildren, Michael, Mikayla, Nicholas, Justin, Tyler, and Gionni. All of them will remember him for his ever-present smile and the warmth he brought to every gathering.
Gary's love for good Italian food and the company of friends and family will be fondly remembered. His legacy is one of kindness, generosity, and the simple pleasure of enjoying life's moments. He will be deeply missed, yet his spirit will continue to shine in the memories of all who loved him.
Visitation will take place on Friday, September 20, 2024, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Cargain Funeral Home, 10 Fowler Avenue, Carmel, NY.
A Funeral Service to honor and celebrate Gary's life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at Cargain Funeral Home in Carmel, NY. Family and friends are welcome to gather at the funeral home prior to the service at 10:00 a.m.
Following the service, Gary will be escorted to his final resting place at Raymond Hill Cemetery, 165 NY-52, Carmel, NY.
