Valerie Mroczek McLEAN With heavy hearts we announce that Valerie Mroczek McLean passed away suddenly from a pulmonary embolism on September 5, 2009, in Kirkland, WA. Born in Seattle on May 22, 1957, as the 4th of 7 children, Val attended Assumption and Roosevelt High School. At Roosevelt, Val met the love of her life, Martin "Marty" McLean. Following graduation, she traveled and worked abroad in Europe, then later moved to Portland, OR. Val also was employed with Mroczek Brothers Auctioneers, her family's business in Renton, WA, sharing her impressive knowledge of art & antiques. Val and Marty were married on October 17, 1987, joining together the McLean and Mroczek families. Val and Marty have three beautiful children - Phillip Riley, Johanna Faye, and Rudy Vaughn. In addition to her husband and children, Val is survived by her mother Lucille, father Conrad Mroczek, brothers Lawrence (Judi) Mroczek and Kenneth (Sheila) Mroczek, sisters Cathy (Doug) Saxby, Barbara (Raymond) Donaldson, and Mary (Houston) Bradley, as well as Marty's siblings and their spouses, including many adoring nieces and nephews. Val now joins her sister Patti Mroczek and all the relatives that have gone before her. We will dearly miss Val's playful sense of adventure and fun, astounding loyalty, infectious laughter, and enduring strength in the face of illness. Funeral services were held at St. Catherine of Sienna Church in Seattle on September 8, 2009. A fund in Val's honor has been established for the future education of her children. Contributions may be made to "Valerie McLean Savings" at any Seattle Metropolitan Credit Union location. Please sign online guestbook at www.legacy.com. I was so sorry to hear of Val's passing. I knew her at Assumption and we reconnected a few times after HS. It has been many years since I've seen her, but I can still see her beautiful smile and hear her great laugh. My sincere condolences to all of her family members.

I was so sorry to hear about Val, even though I haven't seen her since our days at Roosevelt, I would inquire about her through Sheila Anderson Mroczek, her sister in law and my dear, long time friend and (sister). We look forward to the day when we will not have to be saddened by death anymore. (Rev. 21:4) My thoughts and prayers are with the Mroczek McLean families.
