Died 5/27/2013, Memorial Day
Rick died of a brain aneurysm. Graduated from Bellevue High School and Western Washington University. He was known to his friends and family as a generous, thoughtful, caring man. His trademark was his stealth sense of humor and sly wit. He loved nature, cribbage and had eclectic reading and musical tastes. Pre-deceased by his father, Dick, who died in September. Survived by his mother, Judie and sister, Kirsten. Generous to the end, Rick was an organ donor. Rick was a great guy, son and co-worker. He had a funny and one of a kind sharp wit personality, we had some fun times at RTS. It would always make me laugh when everytime I had an IT problem, the problem would correct itself whenever you came to see what was wrong, it was your magic. The news of your passing was very shocking, unbelievable and I was saddened to hear. I will miss you and you are in a better place my friend. My thoughts are with you Judie and Kirsten. I was shocked and deeply saddened to hear about Ricky. It was always the highlight of my day to come over to your house and play with Ricky through grade school and middle school. We'll all miss his quietly hilarious comments and kind spirit.

After reading all these wonderful entries, I am very sorry that I did not get to know Rick. I shouldn't be surprised, since I know Kirsten to be a wonderful, special person. Her brother could be nothing different. My deepest heartfelt sympathies to Kirsten and Judy in this trying time.

I hadn't worked with Rick very long, but he was one of my favorite people. I still walk by his office expecting to see him there...always wanted to ask if he played cards 'cause he had such a perfect poker face. Miss you Rick.

"Ricky" and John spent countless hours together playing as little boys...their favorite was Cowboys and Indians with the wonderful wooden guns that Dick made for them. So many fond memories with Ricky and his family. Our love to Judie and Kirsten.

One of our fondest memories are of "Ricky" and our two sons' tearing around the Medina neighborhood on their Big Wheels. What fun and joy to see them laughing and having great fun. Ricky's life was cut much too short and our thoughts and prayers go out to Judie and Kirsten.

I really enjoyed working with Rick over the past 4 years. He always made me laugh. We shared a common interest in science fiction and would talk about what we were reading. When I was buying my house we talked a lot about how difficult it was. He was a good listener. I'll miss his quirky sense of humor and strong sense of fairness. 4 years is a short time, but I'm glad I had the chance to know him as long as I did.

Needless to say, we were shocked to receive the news of Rick's passing from our son Dave. It is difficult to wrap one's mind around the loss of a child. Then we found out that his dad had passed away just a few short months ago. We are deeply saddened for you both for these devastating losses. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

Cousin Rick, I didn't know you that well, but you reminded me a lot of my dad, you even looked like him, and he was a kind man with a wonderfully quiet sense of humor, much like yourself. Rick, it was a pleasure to get to know you these past few years. Over the past 3 years I have gotten to know Rick quite well as one of my dedicated staff at Regional. It was a shock to hear of his passing. Judie and Kirsten, I am so sorry for your loss. I have great memories of Rick from T-ball, Indian Guilds (I still have the rope tying displays we made at your house) soccer, ski bus etc. From Medina elementary all they way to graduation at WWU Rick was always there with me, ready to have a laugh, kind to everyone and always had the latest gossip from home. There is no way to say how sorry I am for your loss and I will miss Rick very much.

I was very sorry to learn of Rick's passing; he and I went to Chinook Middle School and Bellevue High School together, and traveled with a group to the Soviet Union in March/April 1989. It was always fun to spend time with Rick, and he will be missed.
