Betty Bartlett Obituary

Betty Jean Bartlett

Beloved mother, nana, sister, aunt and friend passed from earth to the welcoming arms of heaven on May 29, 2015, in her home surrounded by family after suffering a stroke. Betty was born in Idaho Falls, ID on Feb. 7,

1937 to Eugene Woodruff and Luella (Beck) Crandall. She was the 2nd of four siblings. Betty graduated from Madison High School, Rexburg, ID in 1955. Spending time with her aunt and uncle on a ranch on the Snake River during her high school years were cherished times. She married Grant Anderson in 1956 and they lived in Walla Walla, WA where they were blessed with the birth of Karla, John and David. The family moved to Spokane, WA in 1971. Married for 28 years, they remained friends to this day. Betty fulfilled a life-long desire to earn a college education when she graduated from Eastern WA U with a degree in Communication, and worked in that field for 25 years. In 1991, she married Arthur Bartlett and they enjoyed nearly 20 years of marriage in Seattle until his passing in 2009. Being a watercolor painter gave her such great joy and peacefulness. She was a beloved member of Seattle Co-Arts, Women Painters of WA, Seattle League of Arts, and the Northwest Watercolor Society, and participated in many juried shows as well as annual festivals at Wedgwood, Alki and Seattle Center. Her active involvement in painting, church, bridge, family and many dear friendships are a testament to her accepting and nurturing ways. We will miss her infectious laugh, patient nature, creativity and determination.

Betty is survived by three children: Karla (Allan) Romano, of Seattle; John (Lori) Anderson, of San Diego; David Anderson, of Spokane; and step-daughter Jennifer Hendrix, of Edmonds. She is also survived by grandchildren Spenser, Isaac, Aaron, Adin, Ava, Camden, and Sloane.

In lieu of flowers, Betty has requested donations be made to the Sanctuary Art Center or the Ronald McDonald House. Friends are invited to a memorial service to honor Betty at University Presbyterian Church, 4540 15th Ave. NE, on Thurs. June 11, at 1:00.

Royal Pond

June 11, 2015

I have always had an appreciation of art and I believe it is due, in part, to watching Aunt Betty painting notecards at Grandma Andersons kitchen table in Thornton. Some of my best childhood memories are of the times spent with my cousins, and Aunt Betty opened her home to me for 3 weeks during the World Fair in Spokane. I will always be grateful to you Aunt Betty for giving me these memories. Love Royal.
