Dr. Eade was one of my mentors (1970-71) as a student at the University of Washington School of Medicine. His lessons, especially those regarding ethics and professionalism, carried me through the rest of my career in surgery. I always used, and still have, the book on plastic surgery he signed and gave to me upon completion of my training with him. A brilliant surgeon, a wonderful teacher, and a compassionate soul.

I too worked for Dr. Eade at Plastic Surgery Associates. He truly was one of a kind. So talented, so kind and so fun. What a wonderful human being. He was unfailingly positive, professional and unflappable. The world definitely needs more people like Dr. Eade.

So sorry to hear of Gil's passing. I too worked with Gil along with my friend Mo. I treasured my time working with him and his visits to our river house in later years. He even had my painting hung in his home. He and Erselle both encouraged my writing and painting through the years mostly by hand-written letters between us. Thoughts are with his family.

So sorry to hear of Gil's passing. Such a wonderful caring man. I am so lucky to have had the opportunity to not only work with him but to have him as a friend. Even though I have not seen him for many years he has often been in my thoughts. I will always cherish my memories and the wisdom of the things I learned from him. He was a truly special person and will be missed but never forgotten.

As shocking as it was to learn of Gil's passing, it was equally so when, having spoken to Erselle just two days before, Erselle too passed away. Lots of memories, from Erselle visiting my family when Norman graduated from Marietta College to the golf outing with Tom, Erselle, Kathryn and Norman when they lived in Oregon. Our sharing the house in Oregon when my mom came with us on a visit to Seattle, and oh so many more memories. It is after all what keeps them in our hearts.

Hi to Erselle and all the Eade Family from Bill and Dorian Ford. We certainly are thinking of the fun times we shared. Deepest sympathy to all .... and Erselle take good care of yourself!

I was trying to compose a sympathy card but have now missed sending it to your dear mum, too!!!
It seems poignantly profound that they passed so close, so suddenly!

I will miss my many great answer-essays from your father on so many subjects from art to medicine, books and movies! He was a legend of loveliness in so many ways, for so many years! I knew Kathy via Mimi and still have a Benjamin bear! I knew Norman via his school friend on Evergreen Point!

Your father and I shared very odd and magical sychronicities of wondrous delights, in our email years!
The time I spent in his offices
were formative years of my 20's that sent me on my own personal (and convoluted) path!!

I visited your parents in Scottsdale in 2008 but kept up with emails always!

"Doctor" once came to my farm in Snoqualmie (his old hometown) to save and move an ant's nest, retrieve a frog egg case for his own home's pond and encourage me to create a habitat of bugs for birds and fish in my trout pond!

The marvelous and diverse interest of that man were unbelievable! I will miss his enthusiastic wisdom and his generous goodness!!

My sincere sympathy......but I feel a beautiful connection in their close passing, eternally bound and together.

I had the pleasure and honor having Dr. Eade as my Plastic surgeon during my elementary years. I was born with a cleft lip and palate. Dr. Eade was always smiling and extremely kind every time I met with him. After surgery he was very compassionate and caring to my mother. I will always remember his gentle, loving spirit. Rest in peace my friend.

My heart and prayerful thoughts go out to Erselle and to the rest of the family of Dr. Gilbert G. Eade.

Everyone knew Gil was great in the OR, but he also sure knew his way around a kitchen. One summer evening I was a guest at the artistic Hunts Point home and "Gilberto" taught me how to make the perfect "Shish kebab"--

At the time I asked Margaret where her mom was and she said (and I quote -) "my mom is climbing the Himalayas."
Right then and there I knew that this was not your normal "my mom is at Bellevue Sq. kind of family."

Margaret and Gil set a spectacular table on the spacious lawn and half way through our dinner of Shish Kebobs and other delights we heard "click"-"click"-"click" only to discover the auto sprinklers had kicked on--we ran for cover and had a great laugh. Where was Erselle when we needed her "climbing the Himalayas, where else would she be?

I remember that beautiful and fun filled evening as if it were yesterday. Thank you again Gil and Margaret for this wonderful memory.

What I loved about Gil, was his sincere graciousness and that rare gift he had of making you feel special when you were in his presence. I appreciated his keen sense of humor and his passion for the arts.
"You left this world a better place Gil"
"your example of kind love will live on in the hearts of all of us who had the privilege of knowing you."
With love,
Frank & Ofelia McHugh

I want to express my deepest sympathy to the Eade family. I so enjoyed having Gil in my office as he always had a genuine interest in the latest procedures in my dental practice, and was just such a nice person. My entire staff has fond memories and my father, as an oral surgeon, had nothing but professional respect for Gil's surgical talent. His memory will be with me forever. Sincerely, Bob Johnson

Gil Eade was a very popular Doctor to work with at Swedish Hospital. As part of the Operating Room staff it was always a delight and the sign of a "Good Day" if you were assigned to work with Dr. Eade. He enjoyed his work, his patients and I always felt he enjoyed the company he was working with. He was a Good Man.

Warm remembrances from the family of Dr. James Burnell. We were privileged to know Gil and Erselle. Jim's daughter-in-law has lived a life that benefited immeasurably from Gil's skilfull reconstruction of her severely injured hand.

In 1962, Dr. Eade reattached our 18 month old son's tiny index finger that had been lacerated in a home accident. It was and is amazing at how well it works and how good it looks. I have thought often of Dr. Eade over the many years since then. My condolences are with his family. Kathleen Cunningham

In 1968 at the age of 16, I was involved in a car accident that made a mess of the right side of my face. My eyelid was gone; my check was a mass of scar tissue after many stitches. No plastic surgeon in Seattle would agree to work on my face--except the wonderfully talented and amazingly kind, Dr. Eade.

He grafted skin from behind my ear to make an eyelid. He even sewed the eyelashes on (what were left). He "sanded" my cheek to smooth out the scaring. It made life so much better for a very wounded teen to not have everyone look away when they saw me.

Over the years I've had numerous plastic surgeries, but I have never forgotten how talented and caring Dr. Eade was. i wish I had thanked him while he was still alive; however, I really just wanted his family to know that his life touched many and he is remembered fondly and with thanks.

I'll always have a smile when I pass the Hunts Point roundabout and think of Gil. His wonderful garden design is a lovely memory of him for all of us. But the smile was caused by a resident who asked "Couldn't you find a straight tree?". As I shared the story with Gill, we both had a good laugh. My condolences, Erselle, to you and the family.

May your hearts soon be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well lived. See John 17:3 Jesus prayer in our behalf.
