Jeanne Beaudry Obituary

Jeanne Stauffer Beaudry

Jeanne Stauffer Beaudry, born in Bethlehem, PA on 8/21/1917, to Charles M. and Anna R. Stauffer, died peacefully on 6/27/2016, on the 74th anniversary of her marriage to Colonel Stephen J. Beaudry (Ret).

She graduated from Syracuse University with a BFA in Painting in 1939, and was awarded a Guggenheim Fellowship. Her paintings have won numerous awards and are represented in many collections.

Jeanne and Steve married in 1942, after which they began a 30-year Army career where she shared her talent wherever they lived. After retiring in Medina, WA, in 1969, they were active at Bellevue Presbyterian Church. Steve died in 2003 and Jeanne moved to Park Shore Community in 2012. Her passion for painting was out done only by her devotion to her family and her Christian beliefs.

She is survived by her children and their spouses, Steve, Jr. and Sue, Seattle; Jeff and Judy, Portland, ME; David and Karen, Seattle; Charisse and Bruce, Oak Harbor; eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and many relatives.

A memorial service will be held at Bellevue Presbyterian Church on August 19 at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Evergreen Hospice.

I doubt if this will be read by anyone after all the years gone by... but it never hurts to try. Jeanne Beaudry was a contemporary of my father's, Col. Robert O. Quackenbush, a Medical Service Corps officer in the army. She lived within a stone's throw of our family during an assignment at (I believe) Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio TX. She and my Dad were both from north central PA. and both my Mom and Dad fell in love with one of Jeanne Beaudry's paintings from 1950. It's been hanging first in their home, and later in life my residences for over 70 years! If any of her descendants are still around (I'm 80...), I'd love to hear from you and reminisce about those "good old days...".
