Barry Bowers Obituary

Barry Austin Bowers

October 14, 1943 - January 26, 2017

Age 73, Barry Austin Bowers died of cancer on January 26, 2017 in Shoreline, WA. He passed in comfort surrounded by family. Service to be held Sat. 2/11 at 4:00 pm at Refuge Church in Lynnwood, WA. His ashes will be spread over the waters of San Juan.

Barry was born October 14, 1943 in Austin, Texas. Graduating from Los Gatos High School in CA, his interest in airplanes led to a BS Degree in Aeronautical Maintenance from San Jose State University. This resulted in his first post graduate job as a professional engineer with Boeing. He worked 32 years, working on notable aircraft including the B-2 Bomber and the 7 series, and then retired.

Barry met Carolyn Cauffman in Delaware, 1970. Within 4 months they were wed and crossed the country. On the east coast in Florida they were blessed with a daughter, Kathryn, in March of 1972. Boeing brought them to the Pacific Northwest in 1977 where they lived in Kent and then Des Moines, WA.

In retirement, Barry & Carolyn traveled extensively in their motor home, celebrating their 46th anniversary in 2016. Barry enjoyed Star Trek, peanut butter, family, NASCAR, The Mariners, Doctor Who, boating, making lists, and keeping score during card games with a line graph (not necessarily in that order). He is survived by his wife Carolyn, daughter Kathryn, father Paul, brother Kenton, and sister Laurenee. Sign Barry's on line Guest Book: www.Legacy.com

Barry I had no idea that you passed. I promise to take good care of Carolyn since you won't be here to do it. The two of you were always very much in love and I always envied that. We will see you again and I look very much forward to that !!

I had the pleasure of working with Barry, he was lead designer on several wind tunnel loads models. He was always cheerful in spite of some very difficult problems we gave him and worked to very tight schedules.

Very sorry for your loss. I worked with Barry at the Boeing Wind Tunnel almost forty years ago. Wonderful person. I'm sure he will be greatly missed.

Barry was a man of integrity, honest, kind, generous, hospitable, with
A great sense of humor. He was patriotic and loved America. The
Virtue I valued most about Barry was what a good husband he was to
My friend C.J.. We always agreed we were "blessed women" to have
Husbands that loved us and treated us so well. He dearly loved his
Family!!! Barry made a great hamburger, but he never convinced us
To add peanut butter!!! Rex enjoyed talking airplanes with him, and
Our kids always liked his funny stories!!! It was a honor to know you,
And call you a friend. We look forward to seeing you again in heaven
With Jesus!!!! Love you, Judy & Rex Miller
P.S.: Send our love to Glo when you see her!!!!

Bear-Bear -- We will miss you so much -- you were the light of all of the family gatherings -- everyone knew you were the #1 cousin. We love you and will see you again some day. Enjoy all good things as you enter God's special place.

I am so sorry to lose my cousin, Barry. We didn't get a chance to know each other very well due to living so far apart. I wish we would have had that chance. I am praying for strength, love, and God's blessings for Carolyn and Barry's remaining family. Stay strong and treasure the good times. Love and hugs from cousin Cindy Hoepker!

Barry was such a wonderful man - wonderful husband, Father, and great friend to us all! He was like a second father to my Son James, and he was just like family to me and mine! He was fun and a joy to be around. We will miss you so much, Barry! Now you are in God's hands - we'll see you again one day up there - the circle will be unbroken!
Love, Linda H.
