Surviving are her children, Gerald Conrad of Ionia, Roy (Deb) Conrad of Lyons, Gordon Conrad of Ionia, Brenda (Tim) Patterson of Lowell; grandchildren, Erick (Brittany) Conrad of Grand Rapids, Jason Conrad of Grand Rapids, Beth Conrad of Ionia, Anna Conrad of Ionia, Christian Conrad of Ionia, Nicholas Patterson of Lowell; great grandchildren Isaiah Alexander, Ezra Smith, Sebastian Conrad, Enzo Conrad; sisters Irmgard (Heinz) Ortlinghaus of Germany, Heidi (Wayne) Boley of Ionia and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband George, sisters Irene Kormendy, Eleonore Johnson, Jane Schwiegershausen, Thilde Bautista and Martha Keller.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 12th at 10 a.m. at Lake Funeral Home in Ionia with Pastor Nancy Patera officiating. Interment Easton Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, January 11th, from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers and/or for those wishing to make a memorial contribution in memory of Renate, please make a donation to the charity of your choice. Renate was an amazing woman, and I feel very blessed to have studied piano under her for so many years. She was not only a gifted pianist, but also an incredibly gifted teacher. She was kind, generous, and very passionate about music. There was nothing half-way about her! My sincerest condolences to her family. What a legacy she left behind in her students!
