Gerald Romain Obituary

Gerald (Jerry) Martin Romain

April 4, 1944 – January 26, 2017

Jerry Romain, a 30-year Tiburon resident, passed away peacefully on January 26, 2017, surrounded by family.
Born in Minneapolis, Minnesota and raised in Denver, Colorado, Jerry had an avid curiosity for understanding how things worked. By the age of 12, he and his brother Tommy had figured out how to rewire their house.
Jerry later relocated to the San Francisco Bay Area, where he served in the U.S. Army. He started working for IBM in 1966, when the first computers were being built. After a 26 year tenure at IBM, Jerry continued his technology career and became a general contractor. He could build and fix just about anything, and helped countless people throughout his life with this unique skill. Jerry was a giving man whose biggest pride was to help people through these tangible efforts.
Jerry was active in the community, a proud member of the Marin Tip Club and a volunteer at the Tiburon Railroad & Ferry Depot Museum. He enjoyed spending time in Maui with family and friends, and could spend hours watching the ocean. He was an excellent chef and loved to cook for his family.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Barbara Bennett (Romain), MD. He is also survived by his children Michael (Sibrina) Romain and Laura (Brian) Jacobs; his grandchildren Kylie, Nolan, Alana and Griffin; and his sister, Renee Wynn. He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Loraine Romain, and his brother, Tommy Romain.
A celebration of Jerry's life will be held on Sunday, February 26, 2017 from 3-5:30 pm at the Mill Valley Recreation Center, 180 Camino Alto.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice.

We miss you...

I miss you more than words could ever say
As I come to work, I think about you each and everyday
10+ years of all those good times we had....
Be it in Maui, fishing, working, fixing things and all that meant
Why you left us without saying 'goodbye'
Perhaps you left me just to cry....
You were not our landlord but a good friend, our lives will never part
Just because you are gone, you will still be in my heart
Without you here to talk, and searching for a friendly face
That knows all too well, that can never be replaced
I hope that you are good in that safe place,
I miss you so much and be sure to save me a place.

Forever remembered, forever missed.

We met because Jerry was my boss but quickly became a great friend along with Barbara. Simply couldn't count the times they both came to our rescue. We enjoyed many wonderful meals prepared by Jerry, only bested by the company. He advised me on everything form condo law to stocks to life. Never once holding back his help. Every crazy idea that occurred to me I ran by Jerry for the last 8 years. I just didn't know anyone else like him. As devoted a family man as I should ever hope to know. A better example of a man I will never find and I miss you. Cheers Jerry.

Our family is in shock and deeply mourns the sudden loss of a great friend. Jerry was truly a most gracious and unselfish person, always willing to help and with a smile. Both his curiosity and intellect made him so special. We have great memories of those many years as neighbors and friends. Aaron and Betty Williams

I will see you someday my friend and maybe we enjoy a bucket of KFC and few jokes.
Thank you for being so good to me.
