Jean Henry-Griffen Obituary

Jean Henry-Griffen An American Master Impressionist died, from Cardiac Arrest on January 16th in Watsonville, CA. She was married to James Griffen for 23 years who predeceased her in death in 2000. Jean Henry served in the women''s army corps. During World War II .Jean Henry was part of the first group of WCA''s to go into Berlin. After the war Jean Henry became an Internationally acclaimed professional artist. Awards won by Jean Henry were numerous. Early in her career she trained in Paris with the late Jacques Maroger at the Louve. Jean Henry also studied in Berlin, Paris, Amsterdam and New York. While in New York she studied with noted artist Robert Brackman. She opened the "Jean Henry School of Art" in San Francisco in the early 60''s, a school still open today. Jean Henry was truly an American Master Impressionist, she will be missed by many family and friends. Her sprit lives on the many lives she touched. Jean Henry was survived by her sisters, Evelyn Terry and Beverly Mitchell of Modesto, her brother, Bruce Broman of Snowhill, Maryland. Daughter in law, Meridth Griffen. No services are scheduled.
