Steven "Steve" Allen Roberts, age 79, passed away Wednesday, January 28, 2026. He was born in San Francisco, California, grew up in New Orleans, Louisiana, and was a longtime resident of Manchester, Connecticut. He graduated from the University of New Orleans and spent his entire 35-year career with Travelers Insurance, from the field office in New Orleans to home office in Hartford, where he retired as an officer in Personal Lines. Steve was a parishioner of St. James Catholic Church in Manchester for 47 years. He was the son of the late Rosemay Wagner Roberts and the late Reginald "Mac" McNeil Roberts. He was also predeceased by his father- and mother-in-law Francis T. Folse and Catherine Brice Folse, brother-in-law George Folse, and sister-in-law Teri Rayes Folse. He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Mary Folse Roberts; his son, Blake Roberts and his wife Jennifer Cannistra; his daughter, Darcy (Roberts) Ronan and her husband Stephen Ronan; six grandsons, Bryce and Carter Roberts, and Edward, Charles, James, and Stephen Ronan; his brothers-in-law Edward Folse and Henry Kerth; his sister-in-law Patricia Folse Kerth; six cherished nieces; one adored nephew; and more friends than can be listed here. Steve was deeply involved in his community. He served on the board of the St. James School Foundation for decades and was co-President of the Home-School Association. He also enjoyed golf, coached Little League, filmed dance recitals, watched birds and Hallmark movies, loved cooking and good food, and rooted passionately for UConn basketball. When he was 20, he dived into Lake Pontchartrain and saved two people from drowning after their car plunged into the lake. Family and friends are invited to the visitation on Saturday, February 7, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at John F. Tierney Funeral Home, to be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00 p.m. at St. James Catholic Church, both in Manchester. Interment will take place at a later date.
