Patricia Talley Obituary

ROANOKE RAPIDS - Mrs. Patricia Jane Allen Talley, 92, of Guardian Care, died Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2008, at Halifax Regional Medical.
Mrs. Talley was born in Lanesboro Township, Anson County, on June 11, 1916, to the late Young Hawkins Allen and Martha Jane Perry Allen. She attended Elon College and Wingate College, and on Sept. 3, 1935, married Joseph Warren "Joe" Talley in Peachland, in Anson County. They moved to Roanoke Rapids where Mrs. Talley enjoyed her life as a wife, mother and homemaker. She was an excellent cook and very talented seamstress. She sewed for her children and for her grandchildren, and her hand-sewn draperies still grace the windows of the house of her son and daughter. Mrs. Talley was a founding member of the Reviewer's Book Club in Roanoke Rapids, a club in which she enjoyed membership for many years. She was a member of the Roanoke Rapids Woman's Club, and a member of the Hospital Guild of Halifax Memorial Hospital. She was an active member of First Presbyterian Church of Roanoke Rapids, where she served as a deacon for 15 years and an elder for 10 years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Warren Talley; two sisters, Mildred Elizabeth Allen and Flora "Red" Allen Toulme; and a brother, Thomas Waddell Allen.
She is survived by a son, Dr. Joseph Harold "Hal" Talley and his wife, Sara Burke Talley, of Shelby; a daughter, Jane Talley Hanudel and her husband, Robert Andrew Hanudel, of Roanoke Rapids; sister, Sybil Allen Anderson of Cary, wife of the late John Robert Anderson; brother, Young Hawkins Allen Jr. and his wife, Helen Boyette Allen of Kinston; grandchildren, Dr. Rebecca Ann Talley and her husband, Dr. Jay Anthony Tomeo, of Augusta, Ga., Joseph Andrew Talley and his wife, Carolyn Davis Talley, of Shelby, Mary Margaret Talley-Seijn and her husband, Marc Johan David Seijn, of Greensboro, Catherine Elaine Talley of Lilas, Dr. Mark Robert Hanudel and his wife, Dr. Priscilla Pineda Hanudel, of Santa Monica, Calif., and Patricia Jane "Trisha" Hanudel, of Los Angeles, Calif.; four great-grandchildren, Nina Elizabeth Talley Seijn, Max Joseph Hendrick Seijn, Kate Helena Sara Seijn, and Lucy Rebecca Tomeo; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial Graveside Service: Saturday, Dec. 20, 10:30 a.m., Cedarwood Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids
Memorial Service: Saturday, 11 a.m., First Presbyterian Church in Roanoke Rapids
Visitation: The family will receive friends following the service, in the Loy Building of the church.
