Carolyn Stevenson Obituary
Born in Ashtabula, Ohio, on Feb. 12, 1942 she was the daughter of the late James Franklin Staley and Edna Alberta McFarland Staley. She was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church. Carolyn devoted her life to teaching Spanish and German language classes to high school and middle school students. She retired after more than 30 years, and in retirement enjoyed reading, traveling, going on cruises, swimming, watching her favorite TV mysteries, listening to 50s and 60s music, and above all spending time with her grandchildren.
Carolyn is survived by her husband of 54 years, Carl Arthur "Art" Stevenson of Shelby, one daughter Carie Stevenson Nelson and husband John of Kings Mountain, one son Cory Stevenson of Shelby, and three very beloved grandchildren: who referred to her as "Grammy", James Michael Nelson, Cody Shawn Stevenson, and Kourtney Dawn Stevenson.
Memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, September 27, 2018 at Aldersgate United Methodist Church with Rev Randy Blanton and Dr. Jeff Patterson officiating. The family will receive friends after the service in the Epworth Building.
Memorials may be made to: Hospice of Cleveland County, 951 Wendover Heights Drive, Shelby, NC 28150 or Aldersgate United Methodist Church to the benefit of the children and youth, 1207 W. Dixon Blvd, Shelby, NC 28152.

Carolyn you and Art were such great neighbors on our street. I moved away when my husband Jerry passed in 2011. Miss talking to you. Your Cancer is gone , your completely healed now. RIP my friend with your hand in God's mighty hand.
