Every conversation with Virginia was an advevture in it's self. She touched so many peoples lives. I would liked to have been there when she came down from that hang gliding experiance. She will be

Mrs. Virigina was a sweet, gracious person and beautiful in and out. Even though she was somewhat of a dare-devil, she was always a lady. I was so disappointed when she stopped driving the school bus. I was always thrilled when my brother did touch-and-goes at Thacker International Airport! Our thoughts and prayers go out to your family.
With love and condolences,
Charlene and Susan Self and family

Mrs. Thacker was a very special lady. She was a teacher that told me what it was like in days gone by. She tried to teach me how to tat, but I was not a good learner. Her yearly Christmas letters were always full of life and excitement. She will be missed by us all. When we heard of her passing, I was thinking of how happy she is in Heaven seeing Mr. James again. Our thoughts are with the family.

When someone dies, a light goes out in this world. Virginia was and will remain a beacon. Few of us are fortunate enough to be touched with a lifelong friendship. I met her in 1973 and she's walked every step of my life with me. I learned to be strong, get educated and to love every second of my life from Virginia. She talked me through every major life choice. She celebrated my victories and shared my defeats. I will miss her, but believe a little bit of that amazing woman will stay with each and every one of us fortunate enough to know her. Snowed in, in Texas, today is a good day to remember how very special she was and how lucky and proud I am to have been called her friend. You simply cannot say her name without smiling.

Virginia Crawford Thacker was truly a legend in her time, always excited every time she spoke with you, left a lasting impression on the kids that rode her bus, cared for them like they were her very own, loved her family and was thrilled when you asked about her kids , loved her church family and the Caddo Pine Island community, which loved her in return. She is in the hands of a loving God! Tom Bunting & Family

I will always remember my tour around her "place" with Virginia driving us around - off road - in her Volvo. She drove around the airstrip rather than across it ("you never cross an active runway," she told me) and then we went to see the pond behind it. When she attempted to turn around while atop the very narrow and overgrown levee road she asked me if I was afraid. I told her "no" but I think she was amused as I held on while the car was at a very steep angle down in the brush. She got the car turned around (of course) and we went on to see more of the pastures and features of her property. She revelled in giving me "the tour" just as she revelled in all aspects of her life. She loved her family the same way. Virginia was really an exceptional person and she will be remembered by all who knew her, and missed by many.

Miss Virginia will always be remembered fondly from all those in my family. We loved her like family. She gave each of us much joy and by her life encouraged us to live life to it's absolute fullest. We loved sharing her Christmas letters each year, they should be published, they were priceless. God gave the world a precious gift in her and our lives are much richer for having known her.
