Barnhill, Sr.

Jimmie Buchanan Barnhill, Sr. of Farmington passed away on Thursday, December 13, 2012, at the age of 83. He was born on June 5, 1929, at Sibley, LA, son of the late Buck and Rrene (Shaw) Barnhill. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Donna (Hooss) Barnhill. He was also preceded in death by five brothers, A. B., Eugene, Edward, Billie and Bobbie Barnhill and a step-daughter, Rhonda Nelson.

"Jim" as most knew Jimmie, grew up in Zwolle, Louisiana and proudly served his country in the United States Army. He worked for many years for Nabisco and the Shreveport Times newspaper, a Gannett Company. He retired in 1985 and purchased Tranquility Bay fishing camp on Toledo Bend Lake in Louisiana. He later relocated to Farmington. In his younger years Jim coached Little League Baseball and more recently he enjoyed spending time reading western novels.

Jimmie is survived by his sons, Mark E. Barnhill of the State of Texas; Jimmie B. Barnhill Jr. and wife, Sandra of Braselton, GA, and Jeffrey B. Barnhill and wife, Donna of Montpelier, VA; sister, Rachel (Mrs. Raymond) Procell of Bossier City, LA; step-children, Lori Cole and Renee Bertrand; several grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Services were held in Farmington, Missouri on Sunday, December 16 at Cozean Memorial Chapel & Crematory. Interment was in Hillview Memorial Gardens in Farmington.
