Elizabeth Halsey

BOSSIER CITY, LA - On October 16th, 1938, Elizabeth was born to Robie and Bertha Johnson in Bogalusa, Louisiana. On March 3rd, 2017 Elizabeth Halsey, an amazing woman, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother left this world to be reunited with her husband, Dorse Halsey. There will be a Celebration of Life held at Hill Crest Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 7th, 2017 at 2:00 PM with Brother Nathan Luellen officiating. Burial will follow at Hill Crest Memorial Park. The family will be receiving friends for visitation on Monday, March 6th, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.

Elizabeth is preceded in death by her brothers, and sisters, Jewel, Richard, Jeneva, and Josephine.

She is survived by her daughter, Patricia and Husband James; Son, Bruce. Also surviving Elizabeth are her grandchildren, Ashley and husband Jon, Nathan, Brittany, James and wife Lindsay, and Rachel and husband Kenny; her great-grandchildren include Gracie, Sydney, Sadie, Liliana, Gabryell, and Liam.

Elizabeth loved the outdoors and working in her garden. The only love greater than what she felt for her children and grandchildren was the love for her Savior and her church.

Honoring Elizabeth as pallbearers will be family and honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of Stockwell Road Missionary Baptist Church.

The family would like to thank the Willis Knighton Cancer Center Staff, Dr. Patel, Lanie, and Haley for all your kindness during Elizabeth's illness. They would also like to thank Julie Vail for her gentle care of Elizabeth in her final days.

In lieu of flowers the family asks you to donate to the American Cancer Foundation so we may find a cure for this awful disease one day.

Mrs. Liz was the sweetest lady she would always give me a hug before Sunday school or Church ever started. Even when I saw her in Super One she would give me a hug and we would stand in the aisle and talked and catch up on what each other had been doing. Mrs. Liz was very kind and thoughtful she will be missed.

I will miss seeing her smiling face when I come visit Stockwell Road. She was one of the nicest people I have ever known. I'm so blessed to have known her. She was a very special person whose love for Jesus shined brightly. You all are in my thoughts and prayers.

Mrs. Halsey - was a wonderful person. I taught her computer classes at the Adult Learning Center several years ago. She was determined to be able to find recipes and coupons on the internet.
She will be missed - by so many.

She was my Mom's best friend and had become one of mine too. She always had a smile and a hug no matter what she was going thru. I called her just a week ago and it was all about me and my family. Typical, Mrs Liz, unselfish and loving. A true Proverbs 31 women.

Mrs. Halsey I so miss you right now. My Heart wishes that you were still here, but I know with no doubt that you were ready to go home and see your family in heaven. I'm very thankful that she allowed me to help take care of her and be apart of her life. My heart is empty, but very thankful she is no longer in pain and she is so happy.
