Arthur Dolder Obituary

1937-2018

Rev. Arthur N. Dolder, age 80, joined Jesus on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital after fighting a long battle with heart attacks, strokes and ITP. Art was born in Fargo, ND on July 23, 1937. He graduated from Buffalo High School and Bethel College in Minnesota and then received a Masters of Divinity from Fuller Seminary in Pasadena, CA.

In 1961 Art began his career path in the U.S. Navy as an Ensign and completed his service as a Lieutenant in 1965 in Long Beach, CA. He returned to Minnesota to work in the Social Service field in Minneapolis. Art and Ginger married in 1965 and in 1967 moved to California where Art worked for the Boy Scouts of America as a Scout executive. Following this, he was general Manager of JB Custom Services in Glendale, CA.

God's call to the ministry led him to attend Fuller Seminary and after graduation he served at the Valencia Methodist Church as Youth Minister. In 1978 God called him to start a church in his home, which became the Christian Family Church. As the church grew, they moved to a new location and he served as Senior pastor until he resigned to establish the Ministries of Encouragement, which still continues to function. Art faithfully served his Savior and Friend, Jesus, for forty years in the Santa Clarita Valley.

Art was a charter member of the Santa Clarita Sunrise Rotary Club and remained active until his death. He loved his family and especially enjoyed attending sporting events, first with Jeff and Jeni, then with his grandchildren, Jocelyn, Katelyn and Colton. As a proud father and grandfather, he could always be heard very easily at those events!

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Ginger; son Jeff and daughter in-in-law Shelley, of Santa Clarita, CA; daughter Jeni, of Santa Clarita, CA; grandchildren: Jocelyn, Katelyn and Colton Dolder; sisters: Judi Kruse and Pat May; brother Tom Dolder. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Sr. and Luella Dolder

Art's favorite verse: "This is the day the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it." Psalm 118:24

A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00a.m. on Thursday, March 29, 2018 at Grace Baptist Church, 22833 Copper Hill Dr, Santa Clarita, CA 91350.

Who I knew only as Mr Dolder, who happened to be outside either looking at the stars or working at something in his yard. He would always say hello to us kids, as I was growing up Mr Dolder seemed to always show up when we kids were about to get into trouble. As my family who were not church going, when I met my future wife (Bea) and we wanted to marry, I asked my mother who we could ask to marry us? She suggested Rev Dolder, Mr Dolder? Mom said yes, but he is also Rev Dolder. At that moment I realized all the times he just happened to be around was to protect us kids and keep us out of trouble. Rev Dolder married my wife and I (we have been married 46 years). Rev Dolder...you had a huge impact on my life and my following Jesus Christ our Lord. I was saddened to see that you past, but rejoice that we will meet again. Thank you for all the lives you effected

I am deeply saddened that we lost ARTIt is truly amazing that this man did so much for for our familyfor so many years. He helped us to understand GOD, and to understand JESUS. He helped our son and his wife Joyce prepare for marriagethen he drove to Bass Lake and MARRIED them by the water. He truly helped us to be a better persons. He got us through difficult situations with our sons while they were in schoolhe smoothed bumps along the way. He used to drop by our house just for the purpose of watching our lives and making things better. He always brought the gift of joy. He never asked for anything in return. He got his power by being an encourager (Barnabus). I know we will continue to use things he taught us as good examples for seeking love and succeeding in life. He was the only man I ever knew who loved and could work on cars... and never use an improper word. I loved himmy wife loved him. I hope you will join us in asking GOD to keep ART in the hollow of his hands...and may the "winds be always at his back." We hope to see you again ART

Art was a major influence in my growth as a Christian. Our family attended Christian Family Church for many years. When my youngest son, Stephen was diagnosed with metastatic ocular melanoma in 2008, Art was right by my side praying and supporting me. Art lived what he believed and knew to be true. He will be missed.

Oh Art! Our family was devastated by the news of your passing. You have selflessly given so much of yourself for so many years, spreading the light and love of God to all who knew you. May you rest peacefully in the arms of our Lord.
