Sue Dolder Obituary

Sue Dolder, 77, of Urbana, Illinois, passed away on Tuesday, October 29th, 2024, at Carle Hospital in Urbana.
Services will be held Saturday, November 23rd, 2024, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ottawa, IL. Visitation is from 10-11am, funeral service 11am, and burial to follow at West Serena Cemetery.
Sue was born to Orville and Yvonne Thorson in Serena, Illinois. She graduated from Serena High School and then from Illinois State University with a BS in Education.
Sue married Stephen Dolder in 1971. She worked in various schools substitute teaching but spent the majority of her career as a well loved Kindergarten teacher at Somonauk Grade School. This was her passion. Sue was a kind, thoughtful, and loving person. She adored her 3 grandchildren who were the lights of her life.
Sue is survived by her daughter, Linda Dolder Dvm, son in law Marcus, 3 wonderful grandchildren, and her loving sister, Cheryl Matteson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Orville and Yvonne, her brother in law Greg Matteson and her beloved husband, Steve.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests those who wish to express sympathy to consider making a memorial to the "Sue Dolder Memorial Fund" set up at the Gifford State Bank in St Joseph, IL, or to Tails Humane Society in Dekalb in Sue's name.

Dear Linda and family,
I´m so sorry to hear of Sue´s death last fall. I´ve just discovered it online. Sue taught at Northbrook School in Mendota when I did in 1969 and 70.
She was a lovely, gentle lady.
