Lomelino
GIRARD, IL – Daniel R. "Danny" Lomelino, 63, passed away Friday, July 19, 2013, in Virden, Ill.
Danny was born Oct. 2, 1949, in Springfield, Ill., a son of Stanley R. and Betty Lou (Garst) Lomelino. He married Pat Matuska on May 24, 1975, in Girard, Ill.
Danny was a graduate of Virden High School, Class of 1967, served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam, was a member of the Virden Fire Department for over 30 years where he served as assistant chief for 25 years until retiring in 2012 and was a member of the Virden Dive Team.
He was co-owner of Lomelino's Welding in Virden, Ill., and was a member of Hendricks Motor Sports "Old Style Drag Racing Team".
Surviving Danny are his wife, Pat of Girard, Ill.; his father, Stanley R. Lomelino, and brother, David A. (Christine) Lomelino, all of Virden, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding Danny in death was his mother, Betty Lou Lomelino.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m., Tuesday, July 23, 2013, at Calvert & Ferry Funeral Home in Virden.
Following visitation cremation rites will be accorded with a memorial service and burial of ashes at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Virden Firemen or the Virden Dive Team in care of the Virden Fire Protection District.
