Elizabeth Jane Lockwood
SPRINGFIELD - Elizabeth Jane Lockwood, of Springfield, died at 5:00 a.m., Thursday, August 9, 2012, at Capital Care Center.
She was born in Springfield, Illinois to Charles W. and Cora Edith Felch Brown. She married John Daniel Lockwood on May 27, 1936, and he preceded her in death on March 27, 1993.
Her parents; three sisters, Emily Baggs, Dorothy Smith and Mary Lou Brown; and two brothers, Richard Coe and Charles W. Brown also preceded her in death.
Survivors include one daughter, Marilyn L. Lockwood of Springfield; one son, James K. Lockwood of Springfield; eight nieces; five nephews; and several cousins.
Elizabeth was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Trinity Lutheran Ladies Aid for many years and was also a member of Trinity Life Light. She volunteered at Trinity Lutheran School Library, was a member of the Sr. Citizens Tuesday Bible Club and volunteered at Lincoln Memorial Gardens.
She was a graduate of Springfield High School and attended Lincoln Land College.
Elizabeth retired in 1989 from the Secretary of State as a code clerk and had also worked at Horace Mann and Illinois National Insurance Company.
Visitation: 11:00 a.m. – noon, Tuesday, August 14, 2012, at Staab Funeral Home.
Funeral Service: Noon, Tuesday, August 14, 2012, at Staab Funeral Home with Reverend Aaron D. Schnelle and Reverend Dr. Thomas Radtke officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church.
