SPRINGFIELD - Michael John Scully, 82, passed away Sunday, May 25, 2008, in Springfield.
Michael was born May 24, 1926, in London, the son of Thomas A. Scully and Violet M. Simpson.
He graduated from Harvard University and in 1955 married Jean Scheckler of Racine, Wis., who passed away in 2007.
Michael and Jean ran an organic farm in Buffalo until 1984 when they joined the Springfield community.
Michael was president of the Union Station Foundation, a not-for-profit charity that supports the Elijah Isles House Foundation, the Abraham Lincoln Foundation, Southwind Park, the Lincoln Land Community College Scholarship Fund, the American Field Service and the Lincoln Public Library District.
Michael is survived by his daughter, Paula Alyce Scully; his sons, Thomas Peter Scully, Michael James (wife, Nanchen) Scully and John Frederick (wife, Tammy) Scully; his brother, Peter D. (wife, Olivia) Scully; his mother-in-law, Mrs. Albert Scheckler; and seven grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 31, 2008, at Trinity Episcopal Church in Lincoln with Father James Cravens officiating. Burial will follow in Old Union Cemetery. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. until 11 a.m., also at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Union Station Foundation.
Holland Barry & Bennett Funeral Home in Lincoln is in charge of arrangements.
