William J. Frey
PLEASANT PLAINS -William J. Frey, 81, of Pleasant Plains, passed away at 8:05 p.m. on Thursday, September 22, 2011 at St. John's Hospice.
William was born November 8, 1929 in Springfield, the son of William Eaton and Margaret Mary Carberry Frey. He married Barbara Jane Rhodes on August 16, 1951 in Bethalto, IL.
A 1947 graduate of Cathedral Boys School, William was a Veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a grain and livestock farmer and served as president of the Bradfordton Elevator Board for many years. William was elected to the Illinois House of Representatives in 1964, and was a member of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Sr. Mary Henry Frey, OP and Sr. Marie Celine Frey, OP.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara J. Frey of Pleasant Plains; three children, William R. (wife, Tammy) Frey, Debra (husband, Marc) Durako, and Cathy Cimarossa, all of Pleasant Plains; six grandchildren, Justin (wife, Amy) Durako of Pleasant Plains, Jess (wife, Stacy) Durako of Bloomington, Mary Frey of Pleasant Plains, Callie Cimarossa of Ashland, Will Frey and Boone Cimarossa, both of Pleasant Plains; three great-grandchildren, Carter and Drake Durako, both of Pleasant Plains and Lauren Durako of Bloomington; two sisters, Eleanor (husband, Jim) Stribling of Ashland and JoAnn (husband, Jim) Stapleton of New Berlin; and several nieces and nephews.
Cremation was accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center.
Memorial Mass: 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 524 E. Lawrence, Springfield with Rev. Peter Harman, celebrant. Private family burial will be held at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
