PAUL JAY Obituary

May 1, 2018

Paul Jay, 92, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 in Mount Vernon.

He was born on January 15, 1926 in Worcester, Massachusetts, the son of Walerian and Bernice (Broislawa Wroblewska) Jakubowski.

He married Sonia Maria Houde on September 15, 1949, in Springfield, MA.

He worked in construction as a Heavy Equipment Operator in MA and FL until moving to Sedro-Woolley in 1964. Paul retired from Texaco Refinery as a Machinist in 1987.

Jay and Sonia have been spending half of the year, "the rainy half," in Los Barriles, Baja, Mexico since retirement. The other half of the year has been spent living with their daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Lewis Trout.

Paul was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church and the Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by his wife, Sonia Jay; brother, Edmund Jason; daughter, Susan (Lewis) Trout; son, Paul Jay (Karen Dec); grandchildren, Adam (Aimee) Trout, Cody Trout (Tamara MacMillan), Ashley (Bryce) Durbin, Nathaniel (Ciara) Jay, Alex Jay, Zane Jay, Aleasha Jay, Hannah Rochelle, Chatham Rochelle and Chase Rochelle; great-grandchildren, Savanah, Caleb, Sofia, Luca and Freya and numerous other family members.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents; son, Joseph Jay; brother, Anthony Jakubowski; sisters, Wanda Hardaker, Irene O'Donaghue, and Helen Goodness.

A Family Graveside Service will be held at Union Cemetery, Sedro-Woolley, with Father Jim Dalton, Celebrant. Memorials may be made in Paul's honor to Sedro-Woolley Human Life, c/o Immaculate Heart of Mary, 719 Ferry Street, Sedro-Woolley, WA 98284.

I am sorry to hear of the passing of a true salt of the earth gentleman and great Union Brother who i worked with for many years at Texaco/ Shell Refinery. He was well respected by all who knew him, a relatively quiet man who when he did choose to speak, all would listen.
