NEW BEDFORD — Alan J. "A.J." Keating, 76, of Fairhaven, died April 16, 2009, unexpectedly at St. Luke's Hospital. He was the husband of Barbara F. (Buckley) Keating.

Born and raised in Cambridge, the son of the late Joseph and Gertrude (Flynn) Keating, he lived in Westport and Fairhaven for a number of years.

Mr. Keating was formerly employed as a certified financial examiner in the insurance industry across the United States for many years until retirement.

He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Alanna J. Flood and her husband, James of Lowell and their children Ainsley and Patrick; a step-son, David M. Phelan of Somerville; 3 step-grandchildren.

He was the brother of the late Thomas Keating and James Keating.

His Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m., in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery. Visiting hours Monday from 4-6 p.m.
