NEW BEDFORD - David M. Turgeon, 50, of New Bedford, passed away unexpectedly at home on Wednesday, November 10, 2010.

He was the son of Henry A. Turgeon, Jr., and his wife, Gloria of New Bedford and Sarah (Davenport) Turgeon of FL. He was a lifelong resident of New Bedford and served in the US Marine Corps. He was a former Police Officer for the City of New Bedford and also worked at Fairhaven Lumber.

David was a member of the Sixth Bristol Social Club and the New Bedford Police Association. He was recognized for having been the recipient of a Life Saving Award. He was a Red Sox Fan and enjoyed traveling to Foxwoods.

Survivors include his parents; his daughter, Heidi R. Turgeon and her fiance, Matthew Adams of New Bedford; two grandchildren, Katelynn Wahnon and Alyson Cardoza; eight brothers, Paul E. Turgeon of Utah, Steven R. Turgeon and Kevin Duffy, both of CA, John Turgeon of TX, Henry Turgeon and Michael Turgeon, both of Acushnet, Christopher Costa of NY and Lance Perry of CA; three sisters, Lisa R. Papoulidis of FL, Bethany Mesina of CO and Shari Pacheco of New Bedford; and many nieces and nephews.

He was the father of the late Michelle Cardoza.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to charity of one's choice.

In accordance with his wishes, he was cremated. Family will be receiving relatives and friends at Rock Funeral Home on Saturday 11 AM to 1 PM with his Funeral Services at 1 PM.
