My condolences to the Marshall family. I worked with John at GMC Hardwoods. He brought joy and pleasure to my job. I truly admired him, and will remember John always.

I will always think of John as a truly American character, who loved the outdoors, and had many strong interests. He pursued the things that were important to him and lived life on his own terms. I admired his independence and I felt privileged to have been able to help him record many of the episodes in his life that he had strong memories of.

Roger will miss one of his closest friends in Westport. They could talk about their Harvard days and old friends they shared.

Roger and I both send you our fondest love, Martha, and hope to see a lot of you in the coming months this fall.

Love, Annie and Roger

Mr. Marshall,
Sir, I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for our Country when you served in the U.S. Army during the Cold War. Millions of Americans slept safe at night because you and your fellow soldiers stood ready to defend our Country. And to your family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.
