ZUNI, Va. — Kathryn T. Dunlap, 58, died at home Thursday, September 17, 2009, in Zuni, Va.

Born and raised in So. Dartmouth, Ma., she was a 1968 graduate of Dartmouth High School and a 1972 graduate of U-Mass-Dartmouth. She was an exceptional and devoted educator and teacher for 37 years.

She was the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Frank Mello, Jr., of Delray Beach, Fla.; wife of Cecil; sons, Christopher and Shawn Dunlap; dearest confidant, Danna Ballassai; sister, Roberta Martin and her husband, William; brother, Dr. Michael Mello and his wife, Dr. Pamela McKnight; three nieces; and three nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kathryn T. Dunlap Memorial fund, c/o Shawn Dunlap, Suntrust Bank, 117 W. Second Ave, Franklin, Va. 23851.

Kathy was a wonderful teacher and positive role model for her students as well as for the people who knew her. I am glad I had the opportunity to know Kathy. I will cherish fond memories of her.

I send my condolences to her family and friends.

She will be missed.
