HUDSON - Susan F. (Pelton) Appel, the epitome of Joy, Love and Giving, aged 68, and a fifty year resident of Hudson, passed away peacefully Sept. 13, 2010, surrounded by her family and friends after a year long journey with Ovarian Cancer.

Born in Fairhaven, daughter of William and Helen (Knowlton) Pelton, Sue graduated from Fairhaven High School and then went on to complete a degree at Fisher College in Boston. Sue also leaves an extensive community of friends who lifted her spirits, just as she lifted theirs throughout her lifetime.

Burial will take place in Fairhaven at the convenience of the family. Though Sue and I crossed paths for just a short while as she 'temped' at my office, she left a permanent positive impression. I am very saddened to hear of her passing - she has a beautiful spirit and was a lovely person. From my family to yours, all the best - C. Coffey

We first met Sue and her family when we lived in Hudson, MA in the early 60's. We were all part of a carriage brigade that would walk "around the block" when our children were little. We formed many good relationships as a result. We have been in Lancaster, PA since 1970 and a few years ago we reconnected with Sue. She stopped by our home several times on her way back from Florida and we will always cherish those visits. She had a wonderful and caring heart which is one of the things we will remember most. We thank her for being a good friend even though for many years it was by Christmas card contact. We will miss her and extend our condolences to Carolyn, Chuck, Greg, Kevin and Sam as you continue to grieve her loss.

So sad, so blessed, so relieved, so fortunate, so thankful - all adjectives that come to mind when I think of Sue. So sad that she is no longer physically with us to share her wisdom and joy; so relieved that she no longer has to contend with the pain and discomfort of cancer and its' treatment; but so blessed, fortunate and thankful that Sue was a part of my life in Florida. Sincere condolences to the family. I know that the brightest star in the sky at night will be Sue looking down over all of us. Goodnight sweet lady.

Such sad news. I have been a friend of her brother and parents back in the middle 50's. Sue and her mother attended my marriage in 1962. She had a wonderful family. We renewed our friendship at our 50th FHS reunion. I was privileged to meet some of her children and grandkids. Sue was loved by all and she returned that love twofold, she was an amazing woman and an inspiration to us all. She will be missed, but not forgotten. To her family go my sincere condolances. Especially to all the grandkids, live your lives as Grandma did and her legacy will live through you, it would make her proud. Rest in peace my friend. Bruce C. Ross

We are sadden by Sue's death and by the long struggle that brought her to her passing. But what we will remember is the joy with which she lived her life. We will remember her smiles and her kindness and how much she loved her family and friends. We hope the knowledge of how well she lived will help her family to bear the burden of her loss.

Very sad to hear of Sue's passing.

I had not not seen her since high school until recently and was very happy to meet up with her as she has a very speacial place in my life as she was my very first formal date.

My mother drove us to a dance at the 1st Congregational Church in Fairhaven. I was a sophomore and Sue was a jumior. I remember it well.

Her family was also on my paper route.

Peace be with her and her extended family.

To all the family and dear friends of Sue. I had the distinct honor of meeting Sue one time at an Early Risers Meeting with my brother Dicky Bolt. She gave a speech about Dicky while she was very ill. I will never forget it or her and I knew the very moment I met Sue that she was a truly a Quality Special person and had wished I had only met her sooner. She is in a much better place now and if we believe we will have the great pleasure to meet up with her again. We will keep you all in our prayers for God's comfort and strength during this difficult time. God Bless you, Dicky and Linda Bolt and his sister Denise

I am so grateful, as an old DEC friend, that Sue and I hooked up again after many years and I was able to share with her in person how much she had meant to me as a young woman looking for a role model. She and her spirit that will live in eternity made a difference. May you, her family be comforted by that difference which is in each of you. Lots of Love and light to all who will feel her loss. I had the extreme pleasure of working with Sue at both CrossComm and Security Dynamics (RSA). She gave me the best advice anyone has ever given me. I was 8 months pregnant with my first child. My career was very important to me. I was so torn over whether or not to continue working after the baby was born. Many people gave advice about what I would be giving up, but no one talked about what I would be missing at home. It was Sue's wisdom and advice that aided me in making the decision to be a full time Mom. She valued her children and her family above all else. I am grateful to have known her. My condolences to Sue's family. She was a special woman. Peace.
