Thomas J. Reidy Jr.

WAREHAM — Thomas J. Reidy, Jr., 82, of Wareham, died April 24, 2007, at Tobey Hospital following a lengthy illness. He was the husband of Barbara (Condon) Reidy, and the son of the late Thomas J. Reidy, Sr. and Susan (Morrison) Reidy.

He was born in Lawrence and was a lifelong resident of Wareham. He graduated from Wareham High School and received an Associate of Science Degree from Cape Cod Community College.

He was a veteran of WWII serving as a sergeant in the Marine Corps.

Mr. Reidy retired as a manager for NE Telephone Company after 35 years. He worked in the Wareham Fire Department for 51 years; the last 16 years as fire chief before retiring in 1989.

He was a quiet, hardworking, and dedicated family man. He was a communicant of St. Patrick's Church a member of the St. Vincent DePaul Society, NE Fire Chiefs' Association, Telephone Pioneers, and Kiwanis Club.

Survivors include his widow; a son, Paul F. Reidy, of Wareham; 2 daughters, Donna Reardon of Loudon, NH, and Janice Jeffrey of Scarborough, ME; 2 sisters, Marilyn Burns of Topeka, Kansas, Shirlee (Reidy) Rowe of New York; a brother, William Reidy of Westwood, MA; 10 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, Thomas J. Reidy III and a brother, James F. Reidy.

His funeral will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 28, 2007, from the Chapman, Cole, and Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Highway (Route 28), Wareham, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Patrick's Church, Wareham. Burial will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery. Visiting hours are from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
