Dominic Salvaggio Obituary

Dominic J. Mickey Salvaggio, age 85, a lifelong Quincy resident, died peacefully, Friday, May 19, 2017 at home, surrounded by his loving family. Dominic was born in Quincy on March 27, 1932 to the late Anthony and Grace (Guarcello) Salvaggio. He was raised and educated in Quincy and was a graduate of Quincy High School, Class of 1949. He later graduated from Suffolk University. Mickey was employed as the managing supervisor in the Quincy office of the Massachusetts Division of Employment Security for over twenty-five years. He was a Korean War veteran having served in the U.S. Army. He received the Korean Service Medal, the U.N. Service Medal and a Merit Unit Citation. Mickey was a longtime active member of the Torrei dei Passeri Social Club in Quincy and an avid Boston Red Sox fan. He was dedicated to his family and especially proud of his cherished grandchildren, actively supporting all their activities and accomplishments. Beloved companion for over thirty years of Kathleen Kathy Cullen. Devoted father figure and Dad of Kelly Hatfield and her husband Neil, Sean Cullen and Christopher Cullen all of Quincy. Loving Papa Mickey of Ryan, Emily, Zachary, Lindsey and Allyson Hatfield, Kayley-Anna Rose and Maddie Cullen. One of eight siblings, he was brother of Anthony Salvaggio of Quincy, Mary Carlson of Falmouth and pre-deceased by Peter and Paul Salvaggio, Grace Asaro, Josephine Libertini, and J. Margaret Cronin. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral from the Sweeney Brothers Home for Funerals, 1 Independence Avenue, Quincy on Wednesday, May 24, at 9 a.m. Funeral Mass in Saint John the Baptist Church, 44 School Street, Quincy at 10 oclock, followed by Military Honors. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting Hours at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4 | 7 p.m. At the request of the family, interment will be private. For those who wish, donations in Dominics memory may be made to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Memorial Contributions, P.O.
