Dean Helfrich had a funny sense of humor. As a RA @ ENC I got to know him my Jr. & Sr. years. We had many laughs and I appreciated him & his concern for me & other students. Prayers to his family during this time of loss.

Robert was a close and wonderful friend during my years at ENC, 1970-76. As the Athletic Director and Basketball Coach, he was my mentor in many situations. I'll always remember him.

Teddy, Gary, Steve, Michael, and Uyen,
Bob was a remarkable man! He was an inspiring example to his students and a true friend to his colleagues. Bob certainly taught many of us the importance of "weathering the storm" and remaining steadfast in our beliefs. He was kind, compassionate, forgiving, intelligent, and full of life. He was a mentor and a friend and he will be missed.

Bob Helfrich was my pastor during what I thought were hard years while I studied at the University of Michigan. But my worries seemed insignificant as I witnessed the loss of his daughter Marsha in a car accident in front of me while Bob lay in the hospital recovering from a heart attack. A few years later I had the privilege of working in the same college where he worked. I watched as he picked up the pieces and made a difference in the lives of others. God made something beautiful of his life.

Bob Helfrich was a life-changing person for me. He was my first mentor, then a colleague and friend. Bob taught me to believe in the potential of every young person to reflect the image of their Creator, as he spoke words of love and grace into my life. What I knew about the human and compassionate side of student development I learned from Bob. Most importantly, I learned that even if you are the only one speaking grace into a situation where everyone else is speaking judgment - you should still speak grace.
