Robert Stevens Obituary

Robert H. Stevens, 84 years of age, passed away at South Shore Hospital on Sunday, October 30, 2016. He was born in Quincy and had been a longtime resident of Braintree before moving to Rockland. During the Korean period, he served with the U.S. Navy. He was a well known self-employed contractor being an expert builder and remodeler. Bob was a past Master of Delta Masonic Lodge of Braintree where he had been an active member. He also belonged to the Braintree Lodge of Elks which is now joined with the Weymouth Lodge of Elks. He was a graduate of Braintree High School, Class of 1950. He is survived by his beloved wife, Grace Edna (Major) Stevens to whom she had been married to for 63 years. Bob was the loving father of Kenneth R. Stevens of Taunton, Kathye L. Gorham of Rockland, wife of the late Paul Gorham, and Kimberly L. Nevins married to Kurt Nevins of Brockton. He was the loving grandfather of Kerianne Connelly of Methuen, Kori Reid of Brockton, Patrick Gorham of North Brookfield, and Kyle and Kolton Nevins both of Brockton. He is survived by a great-grandson, Abel Reid. Bob is survived by two sisters, Joan Bates of Westfield and Eleanor Diaute of Texas. Visiting hours will be held at the Mortimer N. Peck-Russell Peck Funeral Home, 516 Washington Street, Braintree, Thursday, November 3, from 4-8 p.m. Delta Lodge will conduct a public Masonic service during the visiting hours. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home Friday, November 4, at 10 a.m. The Reverend Rachel Bickford, pastor of the Union Congregational Church of Weymouth and Braintree, will officiate. Burial will follow at Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree. Memorial donations in Bobs memory may be sent to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 3044, Syracuse, N.Y. 13220-3049 or to the American Kidney Fund, 11921 Rockville Pike, Suite 300, Rockville, MD 20852.
