Still remember as a kid running home to catch the Cubs home opener at Wrigley on WGN on April 14, 1961. Sammie, you delivered a walk off Homer to beat the Braves. Never forgot the thrill! RIP, my friend.

When I was about seven I stuck a nickel in a vending machine in a grocery store in Pinole, California and pulled out my very first bunch of baseball cards. One of them was Sammy Taylor. I was a Cubs fan, so I was quite excited, and he always held a special place in my memory because of that.

Sorry to hear this. I believe Sammy was an original New York Met. I have his baseball card. May he RIP! Proud to be a fellow South Carolinian!

Patty Sue,
Not sure if you remember me but I knew you from VBS at Mills Mill church. And I was older than you so never really met. But Sharon Lynch is my sister. I only knew Sammy when I was growing up as the baseball star and MLP from Woodruff. But I got to know him while visiting my Dad Buck King while he was at Woodruff Manor. Sammy was always lively, cracking jokes, and so much fun to talk to. My Dad thought the world of Sammy. I rarely go to Woodruff anymore but Sammy was one of the great people from Woodruff. We are losing and lost so many of those wonderful people. My prayers and thoughts are with you and the Taylor family. I feel so blessed to get to know Sammy even in his last days.

Dear Patsy and family. I'm so sorry to hear that Sammy passed away yesterday. We've only heard good things about him. For the life that he lived and the lives that he blessed, we give God thanks. For those who mourn his passing, our thoughts and prayers are with you now as we ask God to comfort you. With much love, Bob and Jean
