I still miss you Brenda! I'm sitting here typing the minutes of our Cowgirls and Women Warriors Retreat meeting from January 15th with Shannon and Lou. That was the day I last saw you at the Veterans' Center. Your back was to me because you were deep in conversation with Veterans who were sitting in the conference room. I didn't want to interrupt you. I so wish now, I had interrupted your conversation and given you a big hug like I wanted to. You are and always will be an inspiration to me. Thanks for all your love and support. The Women Warrior retreats certainly won't be the same without you. You blessed so many women veterans there and at the Vet Center. May you rest in peace eternally with your creator. I'm sure you're doing amazing things for Him in Heaven. You are truly and Angel. All my love and prayers to your family.

As one of the Vietnam Vets Brenda touched with her kind words, caring heart I can't imagine going into the Vet Ctr without seeing your smiling face. Always a good word and a funny story to make me laugh. In a word, you are, "Irreplaceable." Someone I will Always Remember...
I'm Glad we had that talk about the Lord because I know your With Him right now! I will see you again my friend.

My wife and I knew Brenda from the family therapy side as well as myself from a combat Vet being counseled.
Every time we saw Brenda she was so happy and exited to see us. The same greeting form each of our visits, "How are you guys, how have things been going". That will be forever in my mind, that greeting seered in my memory.
I was introduced to Brenda at a job fair shortly after I retired from the Army in 2008, never once did I see her in a bad mood, even if she wasn't feeling well. We were shocked when we heard the news because we were to have a visit with her soon, we will miss her very much and all other counsellors will be judged against her, it seems to me that she is going to be irreplaceable.

I would like to express my deepest condolences to the Thurman family. Brenda started out as my counselor, but became my mentor, friend, and cohort in crime during many Veterans retreats. I will miss her dearly, but I will always keep her in my heart, and carry on her legacy as best I can. Please know that your Veteran family is always here for you. Much love, and many prayers.

My friend, you are gone. My heart hurts and words are all jumbled up in my mind. How do I express what you meant in this life? What you meant to me? We never had that cup of coffee...
There are so many people you have touched in your short time on this Earth. I am trying very hard to show love for others like you would have done--like you did. Thank you for accepting me for who and what I am. My prayers to your family and friends as we now need to forge out a new path to share with you. I love you Brenda...I am a better person cause I knew you. Peace and love always.

I will never forget you!
