Lucas Pappas

PAPPAS, Lucas L. 85, was born on Nov. 11, 1925, and passed away on Dec. 17, 2010. Lucas was the son of Louis M. Pappamichalopoulos and his wife Flora, affectionately known as "Mama", who established the original Louis Pappas Riverside Café in Tarpon Springs. After graduating from Tarpon Springs High School, Lucas joined the Unites States Army and served as a general's aid during World War II. Lucas returned to the States in 1946, he married his beloved wife, Evee Anastassiou, who passed away on May 26, 2010. Lucas then trained with his father as a chef and worked at the family's landmark restaurant along with his siblings, Bertha, Michael, who passed away in 2009, Jack, and Nina. Lucas and Evee Pappas had four children, Cynthia (Mrs. Christo Mangos), Florinda (Mrs. Richard G. Williams), Olympia (Mrs. Michael A. Pagano), and Louis L. Pappas (wife Nancy Pupello Pappas). Lucas is also survived by eight grandchildren, John Mangos, Evee Busby, Christina Smither, Areti Tsitsakis, Luke Pappas, Evee Lukia McLean, Georgia Walters, Joseph Pappas, and two great-grandchildren, Alexander Busby and Braxton Mangos. An integral member of the Tarpon Springs community since his youth, Lucas became a charter member of the Tarpon Springs Sponsors Club, the George Washington Chapter No. 16 of the Order of AHEPA, the Tarpon Springs Elks Club, and St. Nicholas Cathedral. Lucas will be remembered by his family and friends for the love and care he gave unconditionally. The viewing will be at Saint Nicholas Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Tarpon Springs on Sunday, Dec. 19, 2010, from 5 pm until 7 pm.
