Carol Pappas Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home - Allen on Mar. 12, 2026.
Carol Rae Pappas, born on December 28, 1938, in Hereford, Texas, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2026, in McKinney, Texas. She was a beloved daughter, sister, mother, and friend.

Carol proudly served her country by working with the United States government. After her career in the Government, she broke barriers as the first female Vice President for a national building company.

An avid golfer, Carol was a cherished member of the Mill Creek Country Club in Salado, Texas, and the Wildflower Country Club in Temple, Texas. She enjoyed the sport immensely and celebrated numerous victories, having earned the title of club champion multiple times and achieving the remarkable feat of hitting several hole-in-ones throughout her golfing career.

In addition to her love for golf, Carol was passionate about playing bridge and enjoyed many memorable games with her close friends, bringing joy and laughter to their gatherings.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Charisse Truelove of McKinney, Texas; her sons, Michael Pappas of Temple, Texas, and Gary Newell and his wife, Charlene, of Cresson, Texas; along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Mike Pappas; mother, Mildred Walser of Amarillo, Texas; her father, D.C. Walser of Amarillo, Texas; and her sisters, Gloria Weaver and Joanne Rainey.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Lung Association in Carol's memory.

Carol Rae Pappas will be profoundly missed by her family, friends, and all whose lives she touched.
