David Hampton Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home - Allen on Mar. 18, 2026.
IN LOVING MEMORY

David Leander "Lee" Hampton

Aug 16 1968 - Mar 10 2026 Mar 10 2026

"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith."

2 Timothy 4:7–8

David Leander "Lee" Hampton of Frisco, Texas passed away on March 10, 2026, at the age of 57. He was born to Wade and Nancy Adams Hampton on August 16, 1968, in Fort Belvoir, Virginia.

Lee grew up in the suburbs of Los Angeles, California. He graduated from La Cañada High School in 1987. He went on to earn a bachelor's degree in international relations from the University of Southern California in May 1992. On May 23, 1992, Lee married Mary Moore, his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, in Los Angeles.

Lee enjoyed tending to his garden, watching storms from the backyard porch with a glass of red wine, grilling, traveling, and rooting for the USC Trojans. Most of all, Lee loved spending time with Mary, his three children, Elizabeth, George, and Charlie, and his beloved dog, Harper.

Lee is remembered for his unwavering positivity, sense of humor, and integrity, which were only exemplified throughout his courageous, fifteen-month fight with glioblastoma. He was a friend to all and a stranger to none. Most importantly, Lee was an adoring husband and the most attentive father. Lee will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Lee is survived by his wife, Mary Hampton; daughter, Elizabeth Gebert, and son-in-law, Alex; sons, George and Charlie Hampton; brothers, Wade (Donna), Tom (Betsy), and George (Susan) Hampton; sister, Aileen (Steve) Hagy; and a number of nieces, nephews, and other family members. Lee was preceded in death by his parents, Wade and Nancy Hampton.

The family will receive guests for a visitation from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 26, 2026, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, located at 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 27, 2026, at St. Philip's Episcopal Church, located at 6400 Stonebrook Parkway, Frisco, Texas 75034. A private interment and reception will follow the service.
