Robert Wood Obituary

Robert Remington Wood Jr.
On Monday, November 19th, 2018, Robert Remington Wood Jr. went home to God at the age of 67 after battling cancer valiantly for the past three years. His children, Caitlin, Caroline, and Robert, cared for him 24 hours a day in Connecticut during his last month of life. Rob was born on November 12, 1951 to Robert Remington Wood and Phyllis Morris Wood. He started life in New York City but moved as a child to Edgemont in Westchester County, New York. He graduated from Edgemont High School and Duke University. At Duke, he majored in English Literature and played varsity basketball, graduating in 1973. His degree launched him into editorial positions at McGraw Hill and then advertising sales at Rolling Stone Magazine, Cherry Lane music publications, and Financial World magazine. From Financial World, he entered the financial world with stints in institutional sales at Natwest Bank and Wells Fargo. Meanwhile, his passion for writing inspired Rob to write two plays, A Month of Sundaes and A Bridge in Scarsdale, both of which were produced off Broadway. Rob will be missed and remembered by his children, which he considered his proudest achievements in life, Caitlin, Caroline and Robert. Their Mother, Catherine, also will remember the happiness and love with which they raised their young family. Rob will also be remembered lovingly by his brother Bill, and sister-in-law Janine, and nephews Bill and Chris, not to mention his many friends and fellow lovers of literature, Duke, sports, and laughter. The family will celebrate Rob's life at St. James the Less Church in Scarsdale, NY on Saturday, November 24th. Greetings and condolences will start at 1 p.m., followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m., with the burial and a reception thereafter. Donations in lieu of flowers can be addressed to St. James the Less in memory of Rob. St. James the Less helped to shape Rob's life from early childhood until he moved from the area in the mid-nineties. Caitlin and Caroline were baptized at St. James the Less. Arrangements under the direction of Thomas M. Gallagher Funeral Home (203)-359-9999. To send condolences to the family, please visit www.gallagherfuneralhome.com
